Lorna Doone [DVD]

Great film. Not a big Hollywood blocbuster and a bit cheesy in places but I like the fact that its a bit rough around the edges. Beautiful sets, most of the acting is really good, some really good bits in it. Nothing in it that woukd offend anyone I don't think so suitable for all the family. A couple of bits of mild violence and sword fighting but not over the top. I don't remember any bad laungage. A film for all to enjoy

As above..At best it is poor dvd quality.Outrageous that this is marketed as a blu ray disc.The English sound track is also very dodgy.The story is very inaccurate at times and just doesn’t compare to R.D.Blackmore’s wonderful novel.

This is the best story and one of my favourite period dramas. I have loved it since I first saw it on TV 16 years ago when I was about 9. It's a timeless classic that enchants and absorbs you and whisks you away on a journey on love, loss and excitement. Fantastic acting, costume and stunning locations.

This has all the potential to be a great-looking classic but it isn't. The acting is a bit lame, nothing really sparkles. The villains are a bit clownish, especially Carver, who is nowhere near big and powerful enough. Not sure who the director is, but whoever it is doesn't have much imagination. There are too many holes in this production to make it a classic, but if you love the book you'll enjoy watching it played out.

okay my wife dictated this so its probably kinder than my review.........its a good adaptation except for the hero's acting ability which mars the whole thing. the villain is far more watchable and believable - and well, went on to greater things! Lorna is okay, but the fight scenes with a farmer wielding a sword were laughable! not sure that this adaptation is true to the story with the interpretation but for around 3 quid it was a Sunday night watch that probably won't get repeated.

Really enjoyed the film . Saw it a million years ago and was delighted to receive the dvd in really good time and perfect condition. These classic films just cannot be beaten. Thank you .G.xx

This is a lovely classic movie - shows its age a little 20 years on but still a nice romantic story! The quality of the second episode on the player is a little strange though.

Great I’ve seen it before but just as good and nice film fit all age groups
