Indeed, he was a pioneer in the scientific study of wildlife communities, with many foundational papers on predation and other topics to his credit.Readers with only a passing interest in marshes may find his litanies of species in marsh after marsh (and particularly ducks!) a bit repetitive, those with a love for the glacial landscapes of the upper Midwest in particular and the natural world in general will find this book a welcome companion.
