great quality, no damage to book or insides. made a fine addition to my D&D collection! With Stranger Things coming out nows a better time than ever to pick up a copy of this book and get your next adventure going!has a fantastic selection of monsters for your friends and family to face in your quest! whether it be small encounter grunts so high level bosses I prefer this book to the standard monster Manuel

A solid choice
A fantastic book for lower level players, as it has more interesting monsters that they can fight, so your heroic level characters won't be stuck fighting only goblins and bandits. Plus there are many fun monsters for the other levels too

More useful than the first one
I almost wish this book had come out before the first Monster Manual. I know the MM had to cover a certain amount of ground with the monsters you "need": goblins, orcs, etc. But the choices at low levels were always so limited and boring.Monster Manual 2 adds so much variety to the heroic tier, it almost makes me want to start my campaign over! What I would have given to have giant ants, myconids and bullywugs in the early days of my storyline! Oh, well, bygones.Of course, this book is also packed with typos, contradictions, and oversights, just like every 4th Edition book ever. That's why I'm docking a star. It really is getting ridiculous that these guys can't put together a clean book once in a while.

The Core Mechanic says THUMBS UP!
So, I've had about a week or so to look over the new Monster Manual 2. Let me first get it out of the way that 1) I absolutely love this book; and 2) see point #1. I have only minor complaints (see below), but anyone running a homebrew 4th Edition D&D campaign should pick this book up right away. There's even value over just having the stats via D&D Insider, which I'll also get into below. This is not just fanboy craze either; the MM2 beats out the MM1 hands down. The content is better, there's tons of "old school classics" that have been updated to 4E, and there's even a fair number of monsters that have very detailed entries Something that I didn't like about the MM1 was that nearly everything was given only one or two paragraphs of background and development. The MM2 is a much better book, here's why...READ THE REST OF THE REVIEW AT The Core Mechanic:[...]
