I came very close to giving this tool a 1 star review for being dead out of box. Lucky you I needed a stud finder the day I got it. Let me explain so it's a bit more clear.It came on the day I needed it. Nice! Put in the included battery and turned it on. Screen glowed, no text or images. Nothing. It would beep if the mode select was used, but the screen remained glowing and blank. I was very unhappy. So I went to ACE Hardware locally and bought a stud finder that was a bit more pricey. Brought it home, switched batteries... and nothing worked! Uh oh.I bought a pair of brand new 9v batteries. The stud finder worked great, did exactly as described. Now I have two stud finders, but if you guys had made sure your so-called new batteries actually had a charge on them, this would have been a glowing five star review. Bad battery led to extra purchase in order to find out the culprit was the included battery... resolved and all, but this could have been a much better experience had the supplied battery actually been charged up and working. According to the battery tester, it's got like a 3% charge left on it, and I did remove the shrink wrap on it, so I know it was unused.So 4 stars, because your stud finder works great. Excellent product, just a bad battery. Plus an extra stud finder that is not your product. Don't want to see another weird review like mine? Make sure your new shrink wrapped factory provided batteries are actually charged.

I was looking for a wall scanner that could be used to detect studs underneath a vinyl soffit requiring a detection depth of just over 1.5 inches. I chose the Tavool model TH250 because according to the Amazon description for this scanner - "deep mode detects wood and metal parts located up to 1.77 inches" while the maximum detection depth for all of the other Amazon listed scanners seemed to be 1.5 inches. After ordering and receiving the TH250, I was very disappointed to read in the instructions that the maximum deep mode detection depth was actually 1.5 inches. The scanner seems to work well and is easy to use but it is not capable of detecting the studs located behind my vinyl soffit.

I am several years north of 60 and not a carpenter. But I do my own small tasks like hanging pictures and nailing/screwing stuff into the walls. I have found the Tavool stud finder and the Tavool laser level to be great tools to use for those tasks. They were easy to figure out and helped me find studs I needed and hang pictures straight. I am pleased with their products.

Is that a stud in that wall? Or just some insulation? If you're using this tool you won't be able to tell the difference. I followed the instructions and calibrated it multiple times with no improvement. It worked somewhat on a couple interior walls but if there is insulation in the wall, or wiring/piping within 3ft this tool has no idea what is going on

It's not the worst stud finder I have used but it is nowhere close to a 5 star product.Real life experience with this product proved that its stud finding capabilities with a standard sheet rock wall were up to 1/2" off. When comparing this against a standard 1.5" thickness of a 2x4, that is a lot.I would not recommend this product.

This was a great price, with the 9-volt battery included, and it's easy to use. Be sure to read the enclosed, simple directions, especially regarding the calibration before each use. I only wish I'd have ordered this sooner instead of using the trial method with a small nail to find the studs on a recent project that made me decide to buy this stud finder.

So far so good!! The stump finder works better than the top named brand one we had to throw out recently...and that thing never worked!!! This one right out the box works amazingly and my husband loves it. And it was priced so reasonably as well. I had never heard of the brand before so I was a little hesitant but after seeing that it had good reviews, I decided what the heck. And I’m glad I did. My husbands birthday gift works like a charm and he loves it.

I am not a handy guy, it's never been in my tool belt, pun intended.In buying a new construction home, there's a lot to go in, beyond just paintings/wall art. Shelves, garage cabinetry, TV mounts, etc. And, because it's new, you really don't want to make mistakes. So, in doing a bit of research to determine which stud finder to go with, I was happy to read through the reviews of this product. It gave me the confidence to make the purchase, and the reasonable price certainly didn't hurt.My expectations were surpassed, and I'm so pleased with the outcome. As I look to add other tools and needs moving forward, I'll first look to Tavool for products!
