Believe in the me that believes in you!
I won't yet comment on the series itself because there's plenty of great reviews out there that'll cover that part, and I'm only around half-way through myself, but I feel it's important to comment on the actual set itself. It's a really beautiful set, they have carried over most of the artwork from the American $500 boxset, but it's a little smaller - I actually prefer that as I prefer smaller packaging on Blu-rays. It comes with a hardback artbook which is chock full of concept drawings and other art. There's certainly a lot of content, the entire series, OVAs, two films and lots of extra content I haven't even been able to see yet.One small thing to note is that some of the sets have slightly misaligned third trays in the digipacks - mine is a little, but for me it's not enough to gripe about - but some peoples' are quite bad. If this happens to you, All the Anime/Anime Ltd have said that they're happy to replace it for you, so just search for their homepage / Twitter and they'll sort it, in my communications to them they were very helpful.I will drop a small line about the series itself - it's nuts. I've only watched around half of it, and it sure as heck goes places. If you don't know anything about the series, try not to find too much out about it! I knew a couple of key facts, but this isn't spoiling the ride for me. Incidentally, there is a LOT of fanservice in this series, so if that's not something you like, it might not be your cup of tea! After watching Kill la Kill, it mostly goes right over my head...Apparently, there were only 2,000 of these printed, so if you're thinking about it, I'd recommend you snap one up asap!

Gurren Lagann
The Gurren Lagann Blu-Ray release is awesome, the shows characters are the strongest part of this show, they are Simon a timid young lad who lives in an underground village with his friend Kamina, a headstrong young man who wishes to go onto the surface which they are told doesn't exist. when Simon is Drilling an expansion tunnel he finds a small golden drill and later finds a giant face of a mecha called a gunman, when an enemy gunman crashes through the roof of their village and a young female surface dweller called Yoko swings down to help fight the gunman its up to Simon to pilot the gunman to fight it off. This begins a series of events that strengthen the characters and the bonds between them. The characters are also very quotable with a ton of lines that have a fairly deep meaning or at least have meaning to me.Visually the show is beautiful and the story of the show is amazing although it might not be to all tastes and the shows soundtrack suits the story and builds up the hype or suits the mood when necessary. The only flaws with this are that the visual quality of episode 4 is slightly different to the rest of the episodes but this is due to the episode having a different director to the rest of the episodes and the fact that their is no subtitles for any of the kanji on screen or for the opening or ending songs lyrics.

Gurren Lagann - A great anime that most anime fans will enjoy
A great anime in a great format.Gurren Lagann is a classic anime despite not actually being that old itself, the anime oozes style and coolness. The animation - for the most part - is fantastic, very stylised with extremely good art direction. If you, or someone you know are a fan of anime I would say this is certainly a good one to get. The story isn't mind-blowing but its fun none-the-less with a good cast of characters and lots of robot action. As usual AllTheAnime give us a great product, with the Complete Edition - they seem to be one of the only UK anime distributors actually offering blu-ray for the most part! The blu-ray set boasts 1080p resolution video for the main features; Japanese and English Audio; English subtitles and a total runtime of 675 minutes. The contents are:- Episodes 1 - 27- TV Textless Openings and Endings (text on Ending 2)- Yoko Goes to Gainax (Making of)- SANZIGEN 3DCG Test Animation Footage- Storyboard Music VideoOverall: I would recommend to an anime fan, or someone buying for an anime fan. I wouldn't say this anime is for everyone, but I would say everyone should give it a shot. Its incredibly likeable and has a lot of charm.

A bit of a flawed package, but still great for fans.
Outside Japan, the Ultimate Edition for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fanbase.27 episodes, the 2 movies, 15 OVA's, Bonus including the OP's and ED's, animated storyboards and some more stuff never before seen. ALL in 1080p!English dub, japonese sub, and even french dub.Plugged in the first disk, OP 1 kicks of and you can choose Play All, Select Episode and Audio Set.Myself I prefer it original, so japonese subs!Already finished the first episode, everything is great as expect, gorgeous on big TV's.There are some problems with the digipacks and some frames of episode 5, 7 and 10 were replaced by DVD's footage since All the Anime hadnt received the 1080p video with audio of those... (link here: http://www.alltheanime.com/gurren-lagann-update/)IMO, these are minor problems, the anime is my favorite along with Code Geass, between many of those I have seen, IMO tops it all, even The End of Evangelion, SO I wont bitch about it.Yes, I m expecting the seller to send me some new digipacks since one of mine is in a lower position that the other 3, but that doesnt take away the value of this package, that even cames with a nice artbook.Reccomend if you are a true fan, if not just go with the normal blu-rays.
