A Different View of Merlin and Arthur
An interesting take on the Arthurian Legend, from the viewpoint of Arthur, as he is growing up under the tutelage of Merlin. Despite Monroe's very obvious bias against women, there many good portrayals of Druidic practices. Just be aware of this bias.He evokes the times in which Arthur grew up most evocatively, and his depiction of Merlin is very good. I sense an echo of "The Crystal Cave" here.I bought this copy to replace one that I loaned out, and which wasn't returned Upon reading it for a second time, was not quite as impressed as I was upon the first reading.

A bit disappointing...
So having read his previous book, 21 Lessons of Merlyn I was pleased to see this offered. However after reading it I found it not so pleasing. The narrative was not anywhere near as easy to follow as the first book. The way it jumped around in time I almost thought it had been written by Quentin Tarantino. As for the practical infomation...that was a bit easier to follow. I like the formula of using narative then explaining the practical aspects, and it worked very well in 21 lessons. I just think that the narrative portion missed the mark in this on. I still intend to get the third in the series, The Deep Teachings of Merlyn, at some point, but I won't be getting my hopes of it being as cohesive narratively as the first book up too high for that one.

Not for the Uninitiated
If you are interested in learning 'facts' about Merlin or Druidism, don't look here. This is more of a manual for those practiced in the arts, rather than a book of factual information that helps to solidify a belief in something or to prove another wrong. There are many deep layers to this text and one must be aware of the occult teachings (occult just means 'hidden') to comprehend its relevance. Or it may just open the mind of the one unknowingly seeking self-initiation into the mysteries. But beware, this path is trodden with wrong turns and battles of faith...

A very information filled book
Found that it was filled with much good information. I liked that there was background information as to why certain things were done that way.I also enjoyed the comparisons between the different groups and why some of them are so.Over all there was a lot of good information shared in a way that was easy to follow.

A decent follow-up...
and overall good material for any that lean toward an affinity for Celtic disciplines. Don't use it to define Druidism...lol, but enjoy it and take it for what it is: good, fundamental material for any discipline that comes well wrapped in a Celtic and Arthurinian ambiance. This is my second purchase of this book, this one in digital format.

Worthy Read for Open Minds
I started reading this book and couldn't put it down until I was done. I loved the stories of the apprentice, followed by a lot of practical information. I would highly recommend reading his 21 Lessons of Merlyn first, as he references this book regularly. It sparks a lot of thought and now I understand why it would spark a lot of debate; Monroe doesn't hold back though. This was my first book on Druidism and it definitely whet my thirst for more.
