230+ pages of excellent 100% vegan-ingredient recipes
Am I ever glad I had an opportunity to review this cookbook at a bookstore, because had I gone by the undeserved 1-star reviews listed here (as I originally did), I would have missed out on a superb cookbook of 100% vegan recipes. The recipes are wonderful and the pictures are gorgeous.Contrary to what you are reading in these negative reviews (many of which sound like the reviewers don't even own the book), there are no recipes with animal ingredients. She uses vegan margarine as a fat source, soy sour cream, and nut-based creme sauces. There are no recipes for fish or that use honey, contrary to these negative reviews. The reviewers here take issue with references to fish as the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids in the front general health/nutrition section of the book. This is a scientific fact whether you like it or not. Omega-3 fatty acids are potent at fighting inflammation, heart disease, etc. She then lists the next richest sources of omega-3 FAs as flax seed, hemp seed, etc.She never once tells you to avoid your vegan diet and eat fish, she simply states that fish happen to be the richest source and then she provides us with the next best plant sources. I, frankly, want to know how plant-source equivalents compare to animal-source equivalents so that I can identify the most nutritionally-dense plants and legumes to maximize my intake of omega-3s, protein, etc. I want to know how a given plant source compares to the highest known source of a given nutrient, whether it swims, walks, or grows from the ground.I'm disturbed by the ignorant, uninformed, and erroneous reviews posted here because they smack of censorship. Scientific facts should be banned from print in a book because they don't align with one group's ideology? These reviewers remind me of religious fundamentalists. These people are condemning a cookbook without having evaluated any of the actual recipes. That doesn't even make any sense. There are no recipes in this book that contain animal ingredients or animal products. The recipes in this book encourage and enable me to prepare a vegan diet with pleasure and ease, maximizing my vegetable and whole grain intake. This vegan cookbook is intended for anyone who would like to introduce more plant-based foods to their diet and reduce and/or eliminate their consumption of animals and animal products. It's meant to appeal to a broad audience and was not targeted solely at established vegans. Vegans would do veganism (and living creatures) a greater favor by trying to encourage everyone to embrace an animal-free diet rather than attack anyone who isn't 100% aligned with their viewpoint and doctrine. Any steps taken towards a plant-based diet and away from animals and their products should be commended and welcomed, not attacked and alienated.I own nearly all of the vegan cookbooks in print and this one is one of my favorites because of the terrific recipes and heavy emphasis on vegetables and whole grains. It's called "The Vegan Cook's Bible" because it includes recipes for nearly every kind of vegetable, legume, and whole grain generally available. In other words, it's a one-stop source for great vegan recipes with common ingredients that are relatively easy to obtain. For once, I'm glad that I ignored the negative reviews here or I'd have missed out on a real gem. My health, the animals, and the planet will benefit from this book.

Great simple, whole food recipes
I've been using this cookbook for about 6 months and love it! We use it weekly to make simple vegan meals, often in under 30 minutes. The author offers creative, flavorful recipes based on legumes, nuts, and vegetables. it has helped me to expand my meals by using more sauces, nut creams, seasonings, and new grains. I didn't realize until I read other reviews that fish is mentioned in the introductory "Healthy Body Systems" section. Basically, fish shows up a few times in lists of particular nutrients and is listed in a couple of "Top 10" lists. The info is a bit out of date and not necessary to include in a vegan cookbook where vegan options are sufficient and available. So, if it bugs you, skip the intro and go straight to the awesome recipes.

What amazing recipes and explanations about why these are the right ...
What amazing recipes and explanations about why these are the right foods to eat! I won't get a cookbook without great food photos so this one meets my need to be able to visualize the results. As a visual thinker - I pick recipes based on the pictures as well.

Excellent source for vegan recipes!
This book is packed full of helpful information. The first 130 pages begin with information on the body's 7 major systems and good advice for the care for these systems. Hundreds of great recipes follow. The recipes are easy to follow, clever and the ingredients are mostly easy to find. I expect to get many, many great meals from this book. I'm glad I bought it.

I like this book
I like this book. The recipes are clear to read and the guide to herbs and vegetables at the start is so useful. The recipes also came out well ( chocolate cake and oatmeal biscuits.) I am a vegan and so long as the fish is freshly caught then thats fine so the fish recipe was useful
