What an amazing book! I have studied and recited The Chandi for a number of years and I love the author's translation of it. He has taken the next step and presents here an incredible commentary of this text in the form of a spell binding novel. Would recommend for Shakta devotees, those interested in Indian philosophy as well as anyone who wants to read a really, really good story. Just reading the introduction which tells how the author was prompted to write it is worth the cost of the book. The Devi's Grace shines in every page. This book is a treasure and one that I know I will read and reread again and again. Bravo!

This rendering in prose of the Chandi scripture, or Sri Durga Saptasati, one of India's most beloved, is awesome. We read it everyone year during the Nine Nights (Navaratri) though we have to abridge the text (or it would be about 90 nights), and also DURGA PUJA. Devadatta Kali does a wonderful job of bringing the story and teachings to LIFE as told through the saga of the sage, the king and the merchant. If you love Indian scriptures or Vedic texts, you will love this book. We recently purchased our 2nd copy so two readers can alternate w/o passing the book!
