Useful reference
A very high quality book and contains more than just maps. There is good history to go along as the maps evolve from Roman times to the current.

A must-have for map lovers
This is a beautiful book; highly recommended for lovers of history and maps. Yes, some of the maps require a magnifying glass, but that is also true of other large-size map books in my collection. I love reading history, and seeing where events were happening.

Touring Old London
A wonderful resource for writers and historians. This comprehensive study of London from when it was a lot of fields to its central position in the world is worth every penny.

Beautiful book with lots of interesting maps and history
Very beautiful book and actually quite thick and heavy which I wasn’t expected !A lots of interesting maps and pictures, some reviews said they can’t read the fineprintn poor quality but actually I believed those are as good as it can get from lots of research and clippings. I doubt the author can have all these historical materials went through high resolution scanning! If one need all maps to be clear I think the book need to be in A3 size at least. The book comes in new condition but I accidentally made some wrinkle when reading as again it is a heavy book. Some reviewers said the cover is dirty I’m not sure if it refers to the painting on the cover as it has the original yellowish aging paper look or it is actually dirty. I have mistaken when I received as well but later I found that it is the print not the realOverall easy to read words are in good size and different map on every page of this 380pages book.I’m very happy with this book although I don’t think I will read all pages, it is definitely a good book to put on coffee table and flip through for map and London lovers.

London when it was tiny and cute
So lovely to see old maps of London when it was so tiny you could walk from the east end to the west end in less time than it takes you to cross Westminster Bridge in a car during the rush hour.

London: A History in Maps
If you are interested in history, and love maps, this is a a good book to get. There is a wide variety of maps, of the whole of London, and also smaller areas. Different eras of history are covered, and the maps support the facts. I am really enjoying reading the book and studying the maps.
