Yusuf Al-QaradawiThe Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam (Al-Halal Wal Haram Fil Islam)

Don't get me wrong, this is a great book on Islamic Jurisprudence but I felt like Author could of dealt with 21st century issues more than the laws which aren't really applicable anymore... like details about Prophet Muhammad's (saw) war-booty share, etc.Author talked about Islamic way of insurances but what if there is no way of getting them where you live. I was also looking forward to learning more about interests on Mortgage payments when you can't afford to buy a house on cash. Also I wasn't really convinced with Fiqh on Meat while Halal Meat is pretty much available everywhere.Apart from these and some similar personal issues with the book, you should at least read it once to understand the Rulings better especially living in a non-Islamic country.

First of all, i think it goes without saying that this book is a must have for all muslims, and can probably actually be a good read for non-muslims or for those people curious about fiqh issues in islam... the author, who is verifiably one of the leading islamic scholars of his time, is very careful and balanced in his approach often referring to the views of other reputable scholars even in instances where their opinions contradict his own ... i recommend this book to pretty much any category of knowledge seeker... it is definitely interesting if nothing else ...

This is absolutely the best book that outlines what is permissible or not in Islam. This is a must-have for all Muslims.Just a note: there are a couple points where differences in views exist. In one or two of them, he takes a weaker view, but overall, if you are a muslim and you dont have this book, you should be clicking on the buy button

Must have for muslim households, especially in the west!

This book is beyond incredible! I am not a big reader, in fact I actually have a dislike for reading no matter the subject type. To add more rigour to this book's chances of impressing me, it is one of the first books I decided to read to develop an interest in reading books on Islam, an odd choice since its not written or advertised as a book that appeals to the reader's emotion, instead focused on- as clearly stated in the title- the Halal and Haram in Islam, a very cut-to-the chase subject. Yet, Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi (may Allah have mercy on his soul) is nothing short of exceptional in making such a subject so appealing and so relevant to this day and age. I absolutely enveloped this book in three days despite it usually taking me months to go through a book of similar length. His beautiful language, his choice of stories, the laws he chose to laws to discuss, his insight- everything was just a treat to read. Not to mention the book and paper quality is great! Such a beneficial book and I would HIGHLY recommend the purchase.

A very good book, that is well written, informative, thought provoking and practical. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi has me interest from the title and his introduction where he stated that this book was not just going to be a list of what is Halal (allowed) and Haram (prohibited) in Islam. He said right from the start that his is a very tricky topic the not even many Islamic scholars agree on many of the topics.The only one who can truly make something Halal or Haram is Allah. Though as Muslims we are also told to hold the Prophet Muhammed’s (Peace be upon him) life and Hadith (saying), as the upmost example. However not even he could choose what was to be Halal or Haram. His personal preferences are strongly recommended or strongly advised against.My favorite think about this book is the practical examples and how the Quranic verses fit into to modern world though the were written in the old world. Also how scientific evidence backs up these verses.This is a great book for anyone wanting to increase their knowledge of Islam, understanding the inner workings or people like me who want to know WHY certain things are Halal or Haram as well as the recommendations of what should and should not be done.

A great book to know how daily life can be spent according to tenents of islam....A must read ....

Ho preso la stampa inglese perchè quella italiana costa una fortuna ma devo dire che Amazon è stata eccellente come al solito. Il libro permette di avere una buona visione del mondo e dell'ideologia delle personcine che minacciano alla nostra integrità e libertà, come si sente o si legge ogni giorno. È senza dubbio una lettura da fare, almeno per avere un'idea di questo mondo islamico e comprendere la loro visione.
