I'm very happy with this
I'm very happy with this. The WebGrip is key for this to work in my book. Without the webbing the phone can slide around a bit as the x-grip allows some movement of the phone, but with the webbing it does a great job of locking it down. I'd go so far as to say the X-grip would be fatally flawed without the grip because of the play in the mount (think of your phone moving between the 11 to 1 o'clock positions pretty freely without the webbing). With the two together I've gone on quite a few road trips with my phone doubling as my GPS.

Excellent cycle phone holder
The holder is pretty secure at holding the phone but I could imagine a severe bump could dislodge it from the holder without web. I used it on a 9K+ motorcycle tour and even on horrific roads the web held the phone safely. My only problem with the mount is that the phone could not be mounted centered on the "X" mount since that would engage the side buttons on the phone. My phone needed to be mounted a little higher than centered to avoid engaging the buttons. Still worked out quite well.

Ram X-grip is great, Texel WebGrip makes it even better!
Purchased this to hold a phone in a waterproof case on my motorcycle dash. As I do both on road and off road riding I was curious to see how well the WebGrip would keep the phone in place. I have to say that I'm very impressed! I'm pushing the limits of what this mount can handle (I probably should have ordered the XL version), but it holds the phone very securely and the webbing prevents the phone from moving or coming out of the Ram mount at all. Excellent product!

solid mount, but carefull how you use it...
Love this thing, even in a crash, it doesn't slip. The silicone web-grip is hard to grab with winter gloves (most things are).Once it is stretched over the corners of my iPhone 8, it stays put.BEWARE: I can't center my iPhone8 on the mount, because the upper "fingers" will press the volume and power together... when this happened the phone calls 911 (emergency services) on its own! You can't cancel this when it is in the mount (still pressing on the 2 buttons). in a panic, I took it out and cancelled it as fast as I could. then moments later the Sheriff Dept. calls me, where I had to embarrassingly explain what happened. Lesson learned. I kept the mount, but use it a bit more carefully when setting phone into place.

Could be better for Iphone 6,7,8,X plus
Not that well designed for iphone plus. the grips hit the volume buttons causing many issues while using. could be better! if you dont use the web then you can move the phone off center but now you loose the safety from it falling off the Ram mount.Update: seems there’s another version that’s for larger phones. Wish they would list this in the description that this one is for small phones.

Fits an iPod Touch Gen 5
Using iPod Touch with "HereWeGo" mapping app Bluetoothed to a Garmin GLO GPS receiver. This RAM mount connected to a RAM-B_346U and a ball connector holds the iPod Touch just where I want it. Seems secure. I really appreciate the web grip thing. Makes me feel confident it will not drop out. I would feel even better if I had an extra web grip.

Ram mount
Overall the mount seem ok. Like all the Ram products they are robust. This version is too small to fit the Samsung Note w/ and Otter box.One could cram it in but, the X will end up on the buttons and too closely spaced. If one had a smaller phone it would allow the X to be more open and grip the phone more securely.I have seen a larger version of this unit and may end up with one of those.

The tether is a necessity for the X-Grip on a motorcycle or scooter
As noted by others, and especially if used on a motorcycle or scooter, it's only a matter of time before the X-Grip will let go of your device while moving at speed if you don't also use this convenient tether. The RAM X-Grip product came with a warning that the rubber feet might come loose and a recommendation to superglue the feet to the metal frame. The included WebGrip tether also serves to hold the device in place rather than relying on the X-Grip feet as the sole point of failure. I did not do so do the superglue remedy for this reason and make sure to use the WebGrip tether whenever I am at freeway speeds. In my case, though, the X-Grip actually let loose while on downtown streets at low speed (when I wasn't using the tether), likely because of a bumpy road condition. The bike was jolted, not severely, but just enough and in just such a way that the X-Grip opened up for the phone to come loose. Fortunately for me, my phone landed in my lap and I was able to pull over without it hitting pavement. Lesson learned - never use the X-Grip without the using the tether as well.
