Keep your basement dry
After spending hard earned cash on many back-up pumps I wised up and had HB-1000 unit installed. Very compact and rather easy to install. Now I don't get heart palpitations when the power goes out. Most importantly it's made in the U.S.A.

Just don't.
Previous home owner installed one in my house 8 months ago. I was so happy when I saw it working when my power went out. So I went to work. When I came back at lunch I was surprised to find instead of pumping water out it was pumping water in! So 10k in water damage to my finished basement. So save your money. Plumber said the pump was installed correctly it simply jammed internally. I am investing in a battery back up now.
