SIMPLY FANTASTIC!!
I recently bought a really great ice cream machine and I happened to be browsing the internet and I saw this waffle cone maker. At first, I thought, "O.K., not another gadget!" but after reading several descriptions of the machine I decided to buy it. Thank God for going with my first mind!! This machine is incredible. After reading the brief instructions, I mixed up my batch of waffle cone mix (Chef's Choice) and set out on my adventure. Spraying a small amount of olive oil onto the heating pads (I always spray oil for the first time of each use) I poured my first coaster-sized amount of mix onto the machine; closed the lid and waited for the appropriate time to elapse. After opening the lid, out came this good smelling circular cone. Immediately, I lifted the cone using a rubber spatula; used the cone roller as indicated and Viola!! A great cone!! Not to mention the wonderful smell permeating my house!!It took me two tries to get the right amount of mix to make the perfect cone. I had some of the mix slide out the sides of the machine...no problem, just wipe it off. When making your cone fold a small amount at the bottom before you begin rolling the cone; or pinch the bottom of the cone when rolling so that your ice cream will not come out at the end; or put some melted chocolate, butterscotch or caramel at the bottom and let it get hard...a tasty plug!!The only thing I can think of that would make this one package complete is if the company would supply a rubber spatula, the towel (they mention using) or perhaps a pair of cotton gloves to help roll the cone...it is hot!! However, I really use just my hands. I get a better feel of the roller this way. And, please do not let these couple of items dissuade you from purchasing this machine. That would be terrible. We should all, hopefully, have a rubber spatula and towels!!Cleaning the machine is a breeze. The non-stick heating pads are greatly appreciated.I highly recommend this machine. What a great addition to any household that loves ice cream!!Be Blessed!!

Fantastic!
I am such a busy little baker; it's mostly to relieve stress or just to keep busy during the summer. After having such a great waffle cone in Waikiki this summer at Lappert's Ice Cream, I was inspired to make some cones on my own. I saw this same item on Bed Bath and Beyond's website for $10.00 more (49.99). Of course, I came to Amazon and found it for 39.99 and I got free shipping!Pros: Extremely easy to use. It has to do a cycle first (details in the directions), but it's quickly ready to go. Use a little cooking spray so that you can easily remove the cone. Once you have ladled on the batter, close, latch and wait. After your first waffle cone, you can easily determine what number it should be on. The higher the number, the darker the cone. This item also comes with a tool that you can utilize to properly shape your waffle cone. Remember that you are dealing with an item that comes off of a hot object, but take your time and you will soon get the hang of it. You have to work fast, but each cone (unless you get it perfect the first time) gets better until yours look just like those in an ice cream shop. By the way, it's easy to clean. Use a damp cloth to wipe it. Also, don't worry if you put a little too much; It comes off the side and you can trim it/let the catcher handle it.Con: I love this product, but I was not impressed with one of the waffle cone recipes that it provided. In fact, the recipe was extremely heavy, and I had to thin it out to create the right level of thickness for the cone. I recommend trying another waffle cone recipe or altering (as I did) what is provided to get the right cone.

Grind your mistake cones into crumbs for pie crusts!
This is a really simple waffle iron, so not much to it: it works very well for its intended purpose. I wish the plates were removable for cleaning, but can't have everything. I received it yesterday, so no long-term use data; if it breaks, I'll post an update. The cone maker heats up evenly, and the waffles come out perfect once you find a good recipe. I tried all three recipes that come with the iron, and in my hands, the chocolate cone worked the best. The first recipe makes waffles that are a bit too thick and heavy to my taste. I would not recommend to use all-purpose flour, and instead use cake flour for all recipes. Since I didn't have cake flour on hand, I mixed 1/3 corn starch with 2/3 AP flour and it worked much better than 100% AP flour. I used the corn starch/AP flour mixture for the second recipe plus an additional tbsp of oil, and the waffles came out very light, thin, and crunchy. Ditto the chocolate recipe, and it was the best: not as thin and lacy as the second recipe, but thinner and more pliable than the first recipe. I am not a big fan of chocolate, so no chocolate bias here. It seems the key is not to overmix the batter and get the correct consistency. My batter was a consistency of sour cream, it was not running from the spoon, I had to drop it with the help of another spoon and press it with the lid. Once the steam stops coming out, the waffle is pretty much done and ready to be rolled. My next projects will be unsweetened waffles, chocolate tacos, cannoli, and a mille feuille (Napoleon) cake.
