ClearaudioCarbon Fiber Record Brush

Clearaudio Brush is the best.
I find this carbon fiber brush much more effective than the Audioquest one, despite the higher price. Price is nothing, IF IT WORKS! And this one does!

Nice, but it's a little expensive

This Carbon Fiber Brush NEUTRALIZES STATIC and pulls every last spec of loose dust and dirt out of the grooves...
PLEASE BELIEVE ME.... Over the last few DECADES I have tried MANY MANY different ways to clean records. The big brushes like Discwasher do NOT Reduce Static so they ALWAYS leave a LINE OF DUST and DIRT on the record which causes PERMANENT DAMAGE when the needle goes over and over the dusty area!!!If any record is really dirty, greasy, or grimy just wash it with luke warm water and a mild liquid dish soap, and then pour steam distilled water on it (from a gallon jug) to really rinse it clean, and then dry in the direction of the grooves with a very soft lint free towel. If the record is only dusty, just use a high rated, smaller dry velvet lined brush on it, and then ALWAYS END YOUR CLEANING OF ANY RECORD WITH A CARBON FIBER ANTI-STATIC BRUSH like this one!!!! These actually suck the dust out of the grooves, and totally neutralize the static!!Note: Anti-Static Carbon Fiber Brushes do work best when the record is sitting on an Anti-Static Cleaning Mat or Anti-Static Turntable Mat. I like to clean my records on my Direct Drive Turntable because it allows fast spinning of the record with absolutely no damage to the turntable. I bought my Technics Quartz Lock Direct Drive Turntable in about 1980. And believe me, I know... If you want a Turntable with ZERO Wow & Flutter, and ZERO Hum or Rumble, get a Direct Drive. ANY Direct Drive Turntable (made correctly) will work much better and LAST MUCH LONGER than ANY Belt Drive or Rim Drive (no matter how expensive they are). Also, LAST Record Preservative truly works very well. It actually changes the molecular structure of the vinyl, making any record almost totally frictionless and permanently anti-static, so it REPELS DIRT AND DUST and Truly Lasts and Lasts and Lasts!!! I have been using it for over 20 years. It is worth every penny. I am not getting a dime for saying so.

Inferior design (to other brushes), Not as effective
Don't buy this brush! This is not the kind with a felt pad between two rows of carbon fiber bristles which is the best kind, (like the DAK, the Audioquest, the Sleeve City brush, etc.) The pad is needed because dust and other foreign matter cling to the pad at the same time the bristles are reaching into the grooves and sweeping them clean. These brushes with just the bristles will end up just pushing most of the dust around. Because of their high-end reputation, I'm surprised that ClearAudio can offer such an uneffective piece of junk. Naturally, they ask a gigantic high-end ($39.95) price for it too. This is even more than the Hunt Mark 6 brush (quite pricey at less - $29.95), although at least the Hunt is much better since it has the felt pad. Don't waste you're money on this or any other brushes like it.

This brush creates static, don't know why or even how it got on the market, but I have found it to generate static.
