A must for any reggae fan
A wonderful, evocative large-scale scapbook on the origins and development of reggae, which features beautiful facsimile reproductions of autographed flyers, album covers, posters, postcards and tickets etc, etc as well as a DVD of interviews with reggae greats including Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, and "Toots" Hibbert. Also featured are many fabulous photographs by reggae expert and author Roger Steffens (Ras RoJah) and photographer Peter Simon. The book is divided into topics such as "Roots and Ska", "Rock Steady", "The Golden Age", "Rockers, Digital and Dance Hall" and "Internationalization" and also has features on historic figures, styles and events. The book also clearly demonstrates the evolution of a unique reggae visual and graphic styleHighly recommended - a must for any reggae fan!

The Reggae Collection
The first pressing of the first edition carried the name "The Reggae Collection", as the book is a brilliant, incredable, mind-boggling good, compilation of rare stuff from Roger Steffens and Peter Simon's Jamaican music and picture collections. This book is by far the best music book I've ever seen. Extremely good quality print, very colourful, and a nice surprise are the "hidden" artefacts, press relaeses, backstage passes, concert tickets, postcards, and flyers and posters for concerts. Included are even some nice stickers. Roger Steffens is listed as the principal writer, but I'm sure Stephen Davis (who published books with photographer Peter Simon) wrote quite a few lines. A must buy, put it in your collection, or better still right in the best spot of your coffee-table.
