Edgar Cayce: The Sleeping Prophet

Great book
Bought this for my friends mom. We spent quite a long time talking about Edgar when she told me that she used to have this book but loaned it out and never got it back so I ordered it for her. She was super happy when I gifted it to her.The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because I do wish the listing was a little more clear on what the actual size of the book is because she is well on up there in age & has a hard time reading small print, so if I had of known I was getting a small book with tiny print I would’ve ordered her the larger sized one.

The Sleeping Prophet
Jess Stearn wrote this account of the prophet Edgar Caycee. A picture emerges of a simple, humble man who acceptedno payment for psychic healing or psychic advice. Edgar Caycee was basically a more orthodox Christian, member of the Church of Christ, but when is a trance he declared Jesus was a reincarnation of Adam, the first man, and also a reincarnation of the Prophet Joshua, a rather war like incarnation, but as Christ he was the gentle Nazarene, a man of peace. Edgar Caycee fortold a time in the far future where he was reincarnated. In this future time he saw that New York had sank into the sea, and he was dwelling in a former inland city that was now a city on the coast. This prophecy seems to back up predictions of modern day scientists concerning the sea level rising. Edgar Caycee channelled this prophecy in an era when there was little if any concept about global warming or the sea level rising. Edgar Caycee predicted the Second World War. Jess Stearn shows a balanced picture of Edgar Caycee as both a simple, humble man and as a master prophet. He writes of how Caycee's psychic gifts emerged.

And older title.
. . . this didn't keep me AS interested as I'd hoped. But, did give some revelations I'd not heard elsewhere.I like Edgar Cayce books, usually. This IS one of the better ones.

Fantastic book
If you have never read The Sleeping Prophet, you're in for a real treat. Edgar Casey's ability to heal people from far-off distances is nearly unbelievable except that it is well documented. He was a seriously religious man and read the Bible from cover to cover 14 times by the time he was 14 years of age. When he put himself to sleep using self hypnosis, he never remembered what the voice said that came out of him. Somebody had to take notes, And without those notes he would never have believed that he could heal people because he had no medical training. The voice that came out of Edgar Casey said that all of us have this ability, but we do not know how to access it. Edgar Casey's own speaking voice was different from the voice that spoke when he was under self hypnosis.

Good reference book
I had this book before and loaned it to a friend who never returned it. This is the same cover I had before too. I wanted to have it again to re-read and refer to points that Cayce had made regarding changes on Earth that were coming, which he saw while in a trance. Geologists have proven points he made and predictions as well. I was happy to get a good copy that was used back into my hands. This is a good book to have to see what other predictions Cayce made before his death and I would recommend it to anyone interested.

Interesting!
This was a very, very interesting read. I caught a Cayce special on A&E and became interested. After looking around, this book seemed to contain the most information. It's a great collection from early life until death and even contains some medical readings and advice.I will admit that going back and trying to find something is very difficult b/c the chapters are long and there is no index. For more specific medical advice and categorizing I bought The Edgar Cayce Encylcopedia of Healing.

Slight damage
The cover and first few pages of the book I received where dog eared. The book was written about 50 years ago so the language and style don’t make for light reading. It is very informative although I sense a bias.
