A massive upgrade
Guys at my local shop mentioned these grips and they're a massive improvement. The shape, size, and grip texture are all improved. The installation is just slightly different than the stock grips, but the instructions are clear and it's pretty easy to swap out yourself.

Feels great and not too rough
I have always liked the stock S&W grip, but I have had them fall apart and Smith just ignores the problem. This Hogue unit is the same size, and I think I actually like it better for my always carry 642.

Purchased as a replacement for the S&W 642. Fit is very good. Fits in the hand very well and the grip-factor is good. Installed easily in minutes. Fits securely and would purchase again.

Too fragile
The upper most part of the grip(through which the frame is installed) is so thin that it is easily chipped during installation which exposes the inside of the frame to deleterious material.
