Size:18 inches The See All PLX18 circular acrylic indoor convex security mirror is a circular, convex, acrylic mirror, with an 18" diameter, that reflects a wide angle image at a diminished size to extend a field of view to help a person see around obstacles for safety, or monitor a wide area for efficient surveillance. Acrylic is shatter resistant, weighs less than glass, and reflects a clear, bright image. The mirror comes with a swivel mounting bracket that makes it adjustable to a wide range of angles. The 18" diameter size is suitable for areas up to 15' away from the mirror (diameter is measured from the outside of the 3/4" rim). This mirror has a tempered hardboard backing for good strength-to-weight ratio in indoor applications. Tempered hardboard is a high-density fiberboard that has been coated with linseed oil and then baked to increase its water resistance, rigidity, and tensile strength. Safety mirrors are used to help increase visibility in a variety of locations; for example, in hallway intersections and sharp turns, and in driveways and loading docks where drivers have to back up or enter traffic. Safety mirrors are sometimes called security mirrors, and they can be used to extend the view of security personnel, or to help monitor factory workers and automated processes to improve quality control and productivity. For convex mirrors, objects will appear to be further away than they are, and will be easier to see in a larger mirror. Depending on visibility conditions and the viewer's eyesight, objects will usually be recognizable within about 1 ft. of distance (including distance from eye to mirror, and from mirror to object) for each inch in mirror diameter. See All Industries manufactures safety and security mirrors. The company, founded in 1958, is headquartered in Chicago, IL. What's in the BoxOffset bracket Nut with washer Installation instructions

Big Mirror Saves My Garage Wall
I have a car with a long front end and I cannot see the bumper when I park. I needed a mirror to mount in my garage so that I wouldn't hit the wall as I parked. I looked for mirrors online and, based upon the reviews for this one, placed my order. I knew that the mirror was 18" across, but I didn't really understand exactly how big that was until the mirror arrived. It's huge! The mirror arrived very well packed in a massive box. (It had to cost Amazon a fortune to ship. Thank goodness for Prime.) The mirror has a small mounting arm that worked perfectly for me, but I can see how others may have to fabricate something larger or custom for their installations. The mirror has a ball/socket adjustment system, so it can be easily angled after mounting. One note... Due to the nature of the convex mirrors, objects get small very quickly the further they are from the mirror. That's not a knock against this mirror, just the way it is with convex mirrors. For my application, it means that I can see the garage wall very well (which is why I wanted the mirror), but not the garage opening. The garage wall is about 8 feet away from the mirror. The garage opening is about 15 feet away. I don't think this mirror could be used in a convenience store to monitor aisles, for example. Objects and people close to the mirror could be seen clearly, but not objects and people at the end of the aisle.

Very nice mirror for indoor use; outdoor with modifications.
It was my fault as I didn't notice this was labeled indoor, but I am using it outdoors. I put it up as I wanted to monitor my dogs in the side yard where I could not see them from the kitchen window. This works great for things in relatively close distances but a little less for further away like 30 ft. You can see movement from that distance but not details It does have some kind of cardboard backing which, if they just replaced that part, would turn it from indoor usage to outdoor. I put a coat of polyurethane over the cardboard to help make it last longer. If that doesn't work, I may try putting some other kind of backing on it to continue to use it. Thus far, it is holding up fine. I love being able to now see whether my dogs are getting into trouble or not. Great mirror, really.

Provides wide rear view of area
Great little mirror. Well packaged so it didn't come in a thousand pieces like the first mirror I ordered. We use it in the Condo exercise room. The entrance door is 10-15 feet behind the workout equipment, so people on the machines would have to turn around to see who is coming in and not a good idea because you can fall if distracted while on the threadmills. The mirror allows all five users of equipment to see the door without turning around. We tried regular flat mirror but it would allow only one piece to see the back door. Seems pretty sturdy and the back is on a ball socket so you can adjust if need to but for us it covers the whole area and provides a clear view. Was worried about if 18 inches would be enough and be able to see the back, but it works out for us (pun intended).

perfect for indoor garage application - saving the front bumper from scratching garage entrance
perfect for my needs: to clearly see the sides of the car as it enters the garage indoors. my car has a very long nose and it was hard to see the front bumper clearance against the garage entrance. I mounted this next to the garage door opener motor. As others noted, since is a convex mirror, things get small at a relative short distance. in my case the mirror is about 12 ft from garage entrance and it works well. I can see how 2-3 ft farther away would make this not useful. Not a problem of the mirror just the way convex mirrors work

Great for security reasons.
Our family room doesn't have windows on one wall due to a fireplace and unfortunately that wall borders our driveway. We hung this convex mirror on our back patio and it allows us to look out see when people have arrived at our house. I thought it would be unsightly but we ended up really loving it!

Good deal.
Mounted mine in my hook-in garage. Works great. Mirror does have a hard paper back. Not sure how it would holdup outside. If mounted outside I would probably spray some type of sealer on the back just to help it last longer. But, I bet it will last a long time anyway. Came with a small very simple wall mount.

Great mirror for the price
Great mirror for the price. I installed this in my garage for making the job of parking my truck in the driveway easier. I needed the ability to see out to the passenger side of my truck so I can get parked right on the edge without driving onto the yard. This works great for what I need.

Limited movement
Would work great if you were putting it in a corner, which to be fair, is where it is designed to go however if you need it for other locations beware that it doesn't have a huge amount of variation in angle so you are limited and have to be adaptive to get the angle correct. Solid, decent construction and easy to mount.
