This is the best introductory book I have read on the subject. Every other book on Syntax and Linguistics that I have read including ones written by the Indian authors are written in a way that understanding becomes difficult. The authors of these books assume that the reader knows the subject although the title of their books read Introductory Linguistics. However, this book did not disappoint me.

unusually good book. for its price well printed. good transition for one who grew up on wren & martin.this series must be encouraged.thanks.after completing the book i felt the lack of an index when i wanted to return to ,say a definition, an index would be very helpful
