Easy to install and excellent speeds. I started with the magic 2 LAN starter kit to get a wired connection from my ISP router to my office and then added 3x Magic 2 Wi-Fi 6 devices for mesh Wi-Fi around my property. Transfer speeds between the devolos average between 1100 - 2000Mbps (depending on where I’ve got them plugged in). It’s not quite the 2400Mbps advertised but I'm sure that’s down to electrical wiring in my house etc. I have 1Gb fibre internet and the ethernet ports on my PC and router are both 1Gbps, so I’m now at full speed everywhere - hurray! No complaints from me. The mesh Wi-Fi is particularly good. I’ve run speed tests from all around the house, office, garden and garage, and I receive the full 1Gbps, exactly as I would if I was wired in with an Ethernet cable. Very good Wi-Fi coverage and signal strength. **When you configure the mesh Wi-Fi, be sure to disable the built in Wi-Fi on your ISP router. Use only the devolos Wi-Fi to ensure the mesh works effectively as intended. Would highly recommend!

Installation was very easy - just plug it in and wait for the devices to pair. I get up to 290 Mbps throughput (normally around 200 Mbps), even though the sockets are not very far apart. Still better and more stable than what I get with Wi-Fi 6 (because of walls), but obviously nowhere close theoretical 1000 Mbps maximum. However, ping jitter seems to be substantially better than Wi-Fi, it is consistently <2 ms to the device on the other side of the link, whereas Wi-Fi was all over the place of up to 20 ms. Overall, I am happy with the purchase, though it would be good to specify some realistic throughput numbers.

I have a huge backlog of reviews yet to be completed (some of which I might never get to review), but this one had to be done now. I recently purchased the tp-link AV1300 3-Port Gigabit Powerline starter Kit (TL-PA8033P Kit) to provide network connectivity to our study room and it worked well for the first two months, after which it started causing connectivity issues. After some troubleshooting I was sure it was the tp-link kit causing issues. I then started looking for a replacement kit. After doing a few repeated searches online (to filter out bogus reviews), I decided to try out the devolo Magic 2 LAN 1-1-2 Starter Kit. I made this decision despite some of the reviews saying that the devolo option is a nightmare to install. Surprisingly, it was pretty easy to install. I did not even have to press any buttons for pairing - pairing happened automatically. I even managed to download the mobile App which helps with monitoring connectivity status etc. It's been three days working extremely well so far (I installed it on Wednesday the 2nd of March 2022) and I have no doubt it will continue to work well till the end of its natural life cycle. And if that doesn't turn out to be true - I'll update this review immediately. I would highly recommend this option for your powerline network extension needs in the home.

I purchased the Devolo Magic 2 kit looking for an increase in performance over my existing homeplugs as I'd invested a fair bit in my home AV setup in order to stream UHD content. After a short period of use, the plugs began to lose connectivity intermittently with the problem only being resolved by a reboot of the plug. They remained stable for a day or so but then quickly began to lose connectivity again. I was put in touch with the customer support at Devolo via Amazon and spoke to one of their representatives directly. Immediately I was fobbed off by being told that the wiring in my house was at fault, despite this being a new build house and my previous plugs maintaining a solid connection, having been powered on 24/7 for 2-3 years at least. I pressed them to go through the motions of troubleshooting the plugs. We tried a number of tests, involving changing the negotiation and speed settings, as well as different sockets in the house. None of these tests gave any significant improvement in speed or stability and after all this had been done, the engineer simply reverted to the 'wiring' being at fault. I'm a senior IT professional with a specialism in data networks, so I am familiar with general IT troubleshooting. Given that the fault persisted across multiple plug sockets and that I have older homeplugs which function correctly in the same environment, it was evident that the plugs are at fault. The engineer wouldn't back down, nor offer me a replacement. In short, the stability of the plugs and the unwillingness of support to provide me with a replacement under warranty leads this to a 1 star review.

Mine are LAN only single port - starter kit and an extra plug. House has tricky wiring as had been extended twice and the attic conversion wiring is also behind an RCD which is known to be tricky for powerline. Install was easy just waiting for them to sync on nearby plugs. Once happy - move to the right locations. They didn’t want to out of the box - I used the sync button. That worked. Note these are note compatible with older standard powerline as it is new standard so you need to be mindful what extra plugs you add. Note, YOU MUST NOT PLUG ANYTHING ELSE into the socket next to your plug to give it the least interference. Plug an extension/splitter into the plug pass through socket instead. My virgin Wi-Fi from the room above the router is 300/60mbit down/upload (1gb virgin). On the old devolo 500 plugs I used to get 15by10 mbit in the attic wired and 8by2mbit on other side of the house Wi-Fi via another router. Both with nasty subjective latencies and the latter dropping often. Clearly limited by powerline. On magic2 I now have 50by40mbit in the attic and 60by40mbit on the other side of the house with what feels like no latency subjectively as websites just jump onto the screen - it feels as good as direct off virgin router right next to it. I’ve not done any NAS tests as my use case is internet. But it is nearly order of magnitude faster for me. It is night and day vs the old powerline so if you have tricky wiring highly recommended. I would not get multi-socket or Wi-Fi enabled ones to reduce possible problems. Each product should do a job it excels at and not aspire to be jack of them all. Need extra LAN sockets get a switch for a tenner and plug it in for extra 6-7 sockets. Need extended Wi-Fi - get an extra router which almost definitely will outperform integrated plug solution.

Beware if you have g.fast internet. I upgraded to these from some aged D-link powerline adapters that started to underperform after I switched to G.Fast broadband. On plugging these in the DSL immediately stopped working! After messing around with some settings, I managed to get both powerline adapters and DSL working at the same time, but with significant underperformance. I've contacted Devolo support to see if they can help, and we shall see how far we get. It's not necessarily a criticism of the product, but placing two highly aggressive broadband modems next to each other on unshielded wiring is getting to be an increasingly difficult sport going forward. The low hanging fruit for broadband over existing runs of copper has been picked at this point. The moral of the story is that I should install proper data cabling in my house, and BT should run proper data cabling to it. I'll update this if Devolo manage to get a decent fix for this, but that'll likely require them to test against g.fast and write a firmware update to co-operate with it. If they do I will be extremely impressed!

I live in a house built in the 1930's, it's very solid and some rooms just don't get a good signal with wifi, we had to run long ethernet cables everywhere due to this, which is unsightly and not ideal. I had tried powerline kits in the past, but due to our power sockets being close to the floor they just didn't fit. Luckily these adaptors have the plug right at the bottom of the unit, so they fit, you can see what I mean from the picture. You cant use these on an extension lead, it must be plugged straight into the wall. Installation was easy, I plugged the first unit into the wall, then plugged It into my router via an ethernet cable, then plugged the 2nd unit in downstairs, you have to wait for the light to turn from red to white to see that it's working, it was extremely fast and worked within about 1 minute. I checked the connection and it worked and was just as fast as when we ran a very long cable from the router upstairs to our utility room downstairs, so no more messy cables. Another nice touch is that they don't take up a plug socket, as you can see in my picture it has an integrated plug socket, so I could plug my lamp back in after installation.

Tricky to review these. Powerline adapters have always been so dependent on your homes wiring and it doesn't help that their advertised theoretical speeds will never happen in the real world. That being said - these are the single best powerline adapters you can buy. I was seeing 450mbps between the adapters which is great for this technology, unfortunately for my use this was to run my Eero backhaul wired, and when connecting the Eero the wi-fi speeds from that node were throttled too much (limiting to around 100mbps, slower than the poor signal wireless link between Eero's I was using) so I've returned and sucked up that I'll be running some Cat 6 around the house. If you're in a rental space or just can't/don't want to run wires, this is the best alternative, but it is limited. If I was running this into a desktop or console, I'd be tempted to keep it but for my purposes it didn't work.

Devolo claims "up to 1000Mbps LAN speed". I've tested multiple combinations of power sockets across rooms, real world speeds I got: - 35 Mbps - 58 Mbps - 98 Mbps - 115 Mbps - 237 Mbps - 289 Mbps Even when connecting both devices at neighbour outlets, the "best" it can give is ~500Mbps. This is at best, false advertisement, at worst, malice. If they were upfront saying "real life speeds between 35-250Mpbs", I'd never have bought it. Glad to have used Amazon, returning it.
