Incredibly luxe and comfortable to use in the shower!
My mom is getting up there in age and needs to sit down to shower. The plastic shower chair from the doctor wasn't cutting it, so when I saw this teakwood shower chair, I had to try it! Fun fact: teakwood is EXCELLENT for shower chairs because it has a natural, high-oil content that makes them exceptionally water, mold, and pest-resistant, ensuring durability in wet environments without rotting or warping. The plastic shower chair always developed mold. So I was really wanting something better. To my elation, this teakwood chair is built SO well! Instructions were easy to follow and I was able to put it together in about 30 minutes. They have stickers to ensure you line everything up properly. I did need a mallet to bang some of the wood pieces into their appropriate place, but it was very easy to do. I appreciated how the wood was varied in color so you can see that it was real wood cut from a teakwood tree. All the edges are smooth to the touch, and it is so easy to fold up when not in use. Even the back rest can tilt a little for premium comfort which I loved. The arm rests are a genius build as they are built right into the side pieces. VERY easy to use and gives my mom easy access to support when standing up or sitting down into the chair. Best of all, there was no need for adjustments to the height of the seat-- it was perfect for her! OH-- I will say at first I thought there was something wrong with the build because it was wobbling so much like the legs were uneven. Upon further inspection, there are white rubber feet that you can screw up or down to ensure you have an equal footing (I'm assuming if your shower floor is uneven or slopes. My mom took a shower with the chair and was beaming when she got out. She said it was SO much nicer than the plastic chair from before. She said it was super comfortable, much more sturdier and secure than the plastic one, and made her shower experience much more luxurious. She was raving about it so much, I decided to use it when I took a shower and SHE WAS RIGHT. This teakwood chair was so luxurious to have in the shower! I sat on it and it was so smooth to the touch. The built-in arm rests are perfect for getting up without worrying about slipping or falling. I also was able to easily put my foot on it to shave my legs. The best part is that it dried quickly and looked pristine just a few hours after use. No more moldly chair in the shower!! I'm thoroughly impressed with this teak folding shower chair and highly recommend-- not just for elderly people, but for anyone who wants to create a more luxurious shower experience at home! I was worried a folding chair might feel flimsy, but this thing is sturdy and secure. I felt completely safe sitting on it, and more importantly, so did my mom. Because we share a home, I get to see how it holds up for both of usโitโs the perfect height for her to get in and out of safely, and itโs my favorite new 'spa' accessory for my own routine. A win-win for me!

Solid Hardwood Chair With Helpful Armrests and Good Value for the Price
I originally ordered this chair to use as a shower chair, but it actually ended up being used more as a regular chair both indoors and outdoors. Because of that, we have had a good chance to see how sturdy and practical it really is. One of the biggest benefits is the armrest design. The height and forward angle of the arms make it much easier to push up when standing. My mother has had both hips replaced and also struggles with a bad knee, and the armrests give her a stable surface to help lift herself up with much less effort. The chair feels solid and well constructed. The wood is very smoothly sanded and sealed, giving it a polished finish. At first touch the surface is so smooth that it almost feels like composite decking, but looking closely you can clearly see natural wood grain and variation across the pieces. The wood tone and grain give it a spa style appearance similar to teak furniture commonly used in bathrooms and outdoor spaces. The grain pattern resembles hardwoods commonly used in spa furniture, such as teak or acacia, because it handles moisture well. Whether it is teak or another hardwood finished in a teak inspired style, the natural grain and warm color give it a clean, upscale look. The routing and finishing details are nicely done. Edges are rounded and smooth, and even the cutout areas are sanded well so there are no rough spots. The folding design is convenient for storage, and the slatted seat allows airflow and drainage. Comfort is decent but not overly cushioned. Because the seat is wood slats, someone who is a little heavier may start to feel the edges of the slats after sitting for a longer period. My mother prefers not to sit in it for extended periods for that reason, although it works very well for short sitting or for support when standing up. In terms of value, this chair sits in a reasonable price range. The price feels reasonable compared with many hardwood shower benches available online. Overall, this turned out to be a versatile chair that looks good, feels sturdy, and is especially helpful for someone who needs arm support when standing. It works nicely as a shower chair but has also proven useful as an everyday chair indoors or outdoors.

Beautiful chair that should last for years
I know this is a chair designed for the shower, but we actually don't need it there. We have a place to sit already in our shower. But what I did need was an attractive folding chair for my home office. When I have the occasional visitor, they have had to sit on an old, folding metal chair, which is not very attractive or comfortable. This is a considerable upgrade. The chair itself is gorgeous. It is sold teak, and looks almost elegant. The instructions were clear, and everything was labeled with letters, so I knew what went where. It required only an allen hex wrench, which was included in the package. I think it was assembled in 30 to 45 minutes. The chair is comfortable for a wooden folding chair. It is not super wide, so if you have a guest with a big behind they may not find the chair to their liking. But for normal-sized people, it will be fine. I like that there are supports on each side to assist with rising out of the chair. I have only one negative about the chair. The varnish smell is very strong. I put it my office and and after 24 hours had to move it to another room to let the smell diminish. It is coming down now, but it will probably take a week or so to be gone. I don't think this would be a problem in a shower, as the water would take care of the smell. In defense of the chair, however, it is clear that the manufacturer wanted to ensure the chair was waterproof, so did an extra diligent job of coating the wood. I should also note that the screws and various bolts are all designed to not rust or corrode. A beautiful chair that is designed to last and last. Recommended!

Beautiful folding chair, not just for showers
This is another quality teak wood piece from NNN and it's beautiful with precision engineering, design and craftsmanship. The wood and finish is outstanding, it feels smooth and luxurious while being completely waterproof. If wood could feel soft this is it. It would also make a beautiful spare folding chair on a patio or casual setting. If you are getting this for a shower or tub, make sure to measure first. It's large, heavy and very sturdy. If it's for a frail person, they may need help opening it and moving it around. I have no doubt it would hold 350 lbs, but with the constraining armrests, a very large person isn't going to fit. I wish it had come pre-assembled, but it wasn't too difficult to put together. The instructions were clear and they thought of everything, including an easy to use Allen wrench with an easy to hold handle on it and waterproof plastic covers for all the recessed screws. Make sure you have a soft rubber mallet on hand, it will come in handy to set some of the wooden parts into their slots for a tighter secure fit.

Nice teak chair at a good price
This folding teak chair is really comfy. We got it for in our steam room. Its a good quality, has nice arms, and has a back that tilts. It does have a bit of odor for a while, so we left it outside and used the crummy chair that came with our steam room while the odor subsided. Now that its in, its a little smelly. The color is pretty standard for teak (a light medium brown) and my husband reports it was easy to put together- no special tools needed. We had looked for teak chairs for a while and had given up finding one under $100, and while we were lucky to get it on vine, compared to others I saw I thought it was a great price.

Good wooden folding chair
I received this free item through the Vine program. I like this chair. Compact and well-looking, can be used pretty much anywhere (even as a spare when you have extra guests). As a matter of facts, we do not intend to use it as a shower chair (already have one for that, and one that would not require re-treating it with teak oil every six months). For us, it'll be a spare that could be used inside and outside (and could sustain occasional drizzle). The detachable anti-slip rubber feet are *really* grippy (good!) - but also easy to unscrew, making transition into a "normal" chair a breeze. As other reviewers have noted, upon unpacking the chair had a very strong teak oil smell (to the point that we had to put it into the garage to wear off), but it subsequently disappeared. Probably would've been gone after first shower, too.

Sally Port!
It was easy to assemble. The wood is beautiful teak. The edges are rounded smooth. This is a quality piece, not flimsy. The size is nice for sitting, but not so big it can't fit the shower. We might actually use this on the front porch as an outdoor chair, or in the outdoor shower. Easy to fold and store when not in use. Feels good sitting in the chair. It is stable, secure, and comfortable. I feel safe using this. No wobbles, slips, or trips. The wood grain is smooth and beautiful.

Beautiful wood that was extremely easy to assemble.
I love the chair. I was able to assemble it in less than 15 minutes. I used my Worx rechargeable screwdriver. The supplied tool is not great, but it will work; it will just take you a little longer to assemble. Now, the most important thing about this chair is that you should not open it inside the house because it has a horrific lacquer smell. Do yourself a favor and open it and assemble it outside. The chair folds easily and smoothly, and it is very stable even for a big man. I got this for my apartment patio, and it adds gorgeous visual appeal. The adjustable rubber feet are a great feature that allows the legs to be leveled. Whether used outside, in the shower, or in the bathroom, this chair is the perfect addition for any home. I love it and would recommend it to my friends.
