Easy to install, works fine on Windows 10 and Linux Mint.
First some background. I'm running an aged Dell desktop which currently has only USB2 ports built in which I dual boot between WIndows 10 and Linux Mint. I've been thinking about adding USB3 capability for a while but have been put off by having to provide external power to the card as I'm maxed out on power connections. When I saw this little baby on a lightning deal, I thought it would be worth a punt as it didn't need to be powered separately. It arrived in 2 days, despite being shipped from Germany. Well done Amazon. Installation was easy - the hard bit being how to work Dell's locking bar for expansion cards rather than the screws usually used (2 supplied in the box - one for screwing the thing in and one for dropping and getting lost in the shag pile, presumably). Booted Windows and looked at the hardware list - there it was. No hassle and no faffing about with the driver disk. Rebooted in to Linux expecting to be devoid of USB3 but happy to report that the card was present, correct and happy to talk to an external disk drive. Performed a backup as usual using good, old fashioned dd and noticed that I'm now getting speeds to the external disk which are comparable to those between internal disks. In summary, a good upgrade.

Brilliant product for the price.
Bought to expand USB3 capability for the extra ports required on Occulus rift, other brand adapters just didn't provide the power needed and/or had dodgy drivers, this version was auto installed on Windows 10 and Linux and has worked flawlessly. Highly recommended for the price.

Finally, a USB 3.0 card with no SATA power cable!
Finally, a USB card with no power cord! Not only does this make it even easier to install, but it really helps to keep the inside of your case tidy. I have this plugged into a PCI-E v2 1x slot and I only get 100mbps, but it's better than the speed I was getting on my USB 2.0 ports.Having tried other USB PCI-E cards in the past, this one worked better as others would just drop from task manager for no reason. Losing the power cable also makes it easier to fit in next to my custom water loop. This was a god send as the SATA connector on every other USB 3.0 card was just that much too big to make things very difficult to fit.The item arrived quickly in sturdy packaging and an antistatic bag. Can't fault the product or packaging at all. Top notch!

It's a no-brainer....buy it!
Great value and easy to fit - not needing any flying power leads. Haven't tested it for full speed operation, but no comms issues found with multichannel audio USB2 peripherals. Highly recommended. Everyone needs more USB ports, and this is so much better than an external breakout box, performance-wise!

Cord-free power problem reduces value of item.
When I first installed this card I found no problems using it with a 4TB MyBook drive and an A3 printer, both of which are self-powered. It was only when I tried to use USB 3.0 with a Nikon D810, which is also USB 3.0, that I came unstuck! The load of the Nikon caused the port to shut down, in fact any port on the card. The fact that there was no auxiliary power would appear to be the cause of the problemI give it only three stars as the card works fine with self-powered devices that don't load the port too significantly.

Works perfectly, installed without requiring drivers. (PC 18 months old)Got a strange email saying don't use the supplied CD, go to website for latest driver, but couldn't see a download - might have been a problem if It had needed a driver...

BE WARNED!! READ BEFORE YOU BUY!!
I decided to give my thoughts on this product to help you. Yes you.Since this PCI-E card only runs through the Motherboard, you can't use all ports at once.Whats worse is that even with only 1 device connected. It's being held back due to lack of power. If you want full speed USB 3.0, Look for a PCI-E card that lets you connect it to the PSU & Motherboard.Don't say nobody warned you.I regret paying for this cheaper version when i could of spent a few £ more and bought the one with a power cable to connect to the PSU

Love it once I got it working!
I had intended to put this in a new build I got with Windows 10 on it.. but then I realized the file server I was putting together at the same time (which is an older computer) only had USB 2.0 so I decided to put it in that machine instead since I have a lot of old 2tb USB drives. This older computer runs Windows 7. The computer had no CD/DVD drive so I couldn't put the driver disc that came with it in to run it. But, it seemed (at first) that it had detected the card and installed the drivers for it. I plugged a few things into it and realized it was not working out of the box. So, I went to the website listed on the disc.. well okay I tried to do that but it said www.inateck.de and that didn't do anything so I Googled and found out they are actually https://www.inateck.com - when I found the product on their website I read that you do not need drivers!.. as long as you have Windows 10 (and 8 I believe). Okay, I thought, I don't have Windows 10, where are the drivers for someone in my particular situation? Finally, I noticed them at the way way bottom of the product page itself. There is a support section of the website, but I couldn't find drivers there. I found the drivers on the product itself at the way bottom and the download link didn't specifically even say what operating system it was for. Fortunately, that was what I needed. Once I installed that (and rebooted, don't remember if it said I had to or not but I did reboot) the card was working perfect.I thought I'd note my process in case someone else finds themselves in the same situation as me. This didn't bother me much. I have been doing online driver hunts for products for a very long time. Some companies and websites do a better job than others. This wasn't the best implementation I have seen for providing driver support on a website (seems they are more interested in sales on their website than support as you'll see if you go there, it is very ecommerce geared) but the product itself works fantastic. I have 4x 2tb hard drives attached to to my file server through USB 3.0 and mapped them to my other computers and am getting incredible speeds (compared to what I was getting on my old file server that only had USB 2.0).Worth it. I will be buying another one of these soon for the computer I actually intended to buy it for. My plan was to use this for the Oculus since it needs 3x USB 3.0 ports. I don't even own the Oculus yet though, so I can buy this again later when I am actually trying to do the Oculus setup.

Affordable Well Made USB 3.0 Interface Card; potential initialization issue
This interface card is affordable, well made, and I like the cord-free design. [While recycling hard disk drives I once pulled a Molex pin off of a disk drive. Circuit cards are less rugged.] Physical installation is straightforward. Initially I encountered difficulty installing the website-supplied driver software on my Lenovo 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium computer. Inateck's technical support service was quick and responsive to my queries; proper operation verified using a USB 3.0 portable disk drive; all problems solved!January 3 2015 postscript: I use this card infrequently for backups to a USB 3.0 portable HD. This morning the card's four USB 3.0 ports were dead: the USB drive would not power up until I plugged the USB drive into my computer's built-in USB 2.0 port. Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager showed a yellow ! on Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller, and Properties indicated "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" I tried my usual fix by Restarting the computer, but after Restart this card still was dead and Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller had disappeared completely from Device Manager. I then powered down the computer, let the computer sit for several minutes (HD spin down), and then repowered the computer; the USB 3.0 card initialized normally. This card IMO is a good value, but I will report later if the card dies prematurely.

Got a bad unit, but replacement works great
Cannot get it working, after spending hours on the internet searching for a solution. Plugged into motherboard with no problems. Installed drivers from Inateck web site with no problems. Shows driver were installed successfully. PCI-E Card has power because when I plug my WD Passport Ultra external storage into it, the WD power LED lights up. PCI Card is showing up in device manager with yellow "!" on it. Have rebooted. Have reinstalled drivers, but still not working. Will likely have to send it back.Update 7/26/2014: So far Inateck hasn't been much help. No response from emailing customer service, and the only response I received on their forum was just a waste of time asking if my WD Passport needs reformatted. Really? FYI, no, WD Passport works absolutely fine when plugged into any other USB ports, but nothing works, including another external hard drive, or any of my flash drives when plugged into any of the four slots on the Inateck PCI-E Card.Update 8/08/2014: After 15 days worth of headaches, and an incredible amount of frustration, Inateck sent me a replacement PCI card which arrived today. I installed it, and I'm happy to say it worked immediately. Since the drivers were already installed on my computer from trying to get the first card working, my 64 bit Windows 7 system recognized the card immediately. In other words, after all this frustration, the dozen or so back and fourth emails with customer service, and trying a number various things to get the card working, it turns out the card was just defective. The replacement card is working swimmingly, and I can immediately tell there's a huge leap in speed. HALLELUJAH! Because the card now works so well, I'm upgrading my review to 4 stars. I'd probably give it five stars if it weren't for the endless number of headaches I experienced over the past couple of weeks, which obviously could have been avoided had they sent me a replacement right off the bat. The only reason I hung in there and didn't just ask for a refund was because of the glowing reviews from people who also had headaches, but then eventually got their working. Thanks to Stella from Inateck's customer support for putting up with all of my complaining and for all her communication. Although I think Inateck has a lot of work to do to fix their customer support procedures, If Stella hadn't been so diligent in communicating with me, I'd have probably given up long ago. I would recommend this card, if you keep in mind that you may go through hell just getting it to work, but once you get there it seems to work very well. If anything changes, I will update my review again.
