The Ötztal Alps, more than 5,300 years ago. A Neolithic clan has settled nearby a creek. It is their leader Kelab s responsibility to be the keeper of the group's holy shrine Tineka. While Kelab is hunting, the settlement is attacked. The members of the tribe are brutally murdered, amongst them Kelab's wife and son, only one newborn survives... and Tineka is gone. Blinded by pain and fury, Kelab is out for one thing alone: vengeance. He sets out after the murderers on what turns into a grand odyssey where he must fight constantly for the infant s survival; against the immense forces of nature; against hunters he encounters; and, amongst the loneliness of the quest, against a growing sense of doubt over the morality of his mission. Inspired by the discovery of Ötzi The Iceman , the oldest known human mummy, found in 1991 approximately 5,300 years after his death, ICEMAN is an epic, riveting, visually stunning and immersive revenge thriller that investigates a five-thousand-year-old murder mystery. NB: the characters in ICEMAN speak an early version of the Rhaetic language. The film intentionally has no subtitles as translation is not required to comprehend the story.

Interesting take on mankind that long ago.
It is a good movie with a fascinating take on what humans lived like that long ago, it is worth watching. I am however not able to give it 5 stars because there were some points in the movie where things just did not add-up for me.This movie is a tricky one as to will I keep it to watch again at some point, or get rid of it. With a good movie it is easy, keep. With a bad movie it is also easy, very bad goes into the bin and bad movies to the charity shop. This one, do I want to watch it again . . . . . . it is not a bad movie so maybe I will keep it to watch it once more in a year, then decide if it is a keeper or not. Would I have bought the movie if I saw it before, no.

Boring and inauthentic
I could not watch this beyond the first 30 minutes. There were too many glaring errors, and you don't even need to be a historian to see them. The all too familiar depiction of our ancestors as ham-fisted idiots with dirt on their faces and unkempt hair, who have not even the sense to block up gaps in the walls of their huts with a bit of daub. Don't waste your time.

Greatly disappointed.
This should have been a fantastic, visceral and immersive film. Sadly it wasn’t. Lots of time and attention spent on the clothing but not much elsewhere. Most of the “background”, beyond, the clothing, is simply not believable. The result is a violent film that is just unnecessary, failing to provide any real depth of meaning and relies, it appears, on stereotypes that would have been laughable if the violence had not been so gratuitous.I would like to say that the film looks great but lacks heart. Sadly it doesn’t even look that great.

Extraordinary. Abrilliant production in every way.
Extraordinary. This film is really well done.Outstanding camera work portrays a landscape of immense beauty and harshness.A well imagined scenario that brought about the final days of the 5000 year old "Iceman", discovery in the Alps in the early '90s.Filming in extreme conditions within a remote mountain wilderness, we get a taste, a glimps, of our prehistoric ancestors. Masterfully directed. Brilliant performances of underplayed raw wildness with a haunting, atmospheric score and a cameo from Franco Nero! Who would have thought? The language used is early Rhaetic and sounds a bit like a proto-norse-latin, giving it a sense of familiarity to Europeans (no subs as the emotive subjects and gestures give adiquate cues to what is going on).Fabulous script work and story. A great production in every way.

Incredible movie!
What a movie! Beautifully made and genuinely manages to establish a highly relatable human connection between a father / husband/ provider in 2018 and a family man 5,000 years ago.The language spoken is not translated into English but doesn't need to be as the wants, fears, anger, desire, misery and joy of the central character is plain as day and actually feels a little like having the ability to use a lord of the rings style seeing stone ( as used by saruman) giving the viewer the ability to take a journey through time and observe the past. This film is hard, unflinching brutal and beautiful. It is a must see!

An evenings light entertainment.
Worth watching as a matter of interest. The language is, I presume, some archaic European dialect - with no subtitles. But the story is simple enough without needing to understand the language. A very 'light' story line. Our hero's family is killed and he doggedly pursues the killers for revenge. Some technical queries. No archer would walk around in the snow with his bow strung all the time. He would keep his bowstring carefully dry and protected. After killing the murderers he leaves their wives and children without protection or a hunter to provide meat. I suspect in those days our hero would have taken over the family rather than go and sit in the snow until he dies.

Unusual and compelling movie. No understanding of 5500-year-old language required!
Very watchable couple of hours, some glorious scenery depicted. Yes, the story was relatively predictable but there were some nice touches and the memory of it will stay for some time – always the measure of a good movie.

Graphic and violent
An epic tale based on the discovery of Otzi the Iceman, found in a glacier in the Alps, resting after his death 5300 years ago. It conjurs up a likely scenario setting of how Otzi was killed, and the life that he lived. Very graphic and violent!
