More a booklet than a book
The ideas and advice are wonderful. After watching the author's YouTube video, I couldn't wait to get the book. I was quite taken aback when it arrived as it is more of a booklet than a book, and basically is the same as the video. However, I am looking forward to using the workbook sections with my dad who has Alzheimer's. The author is not afraid of being vulnerable, which makes her very relatable. Just realize it's a little pricey for the product, but not the information!

A gem!
How marvelous to condense a wealth of experiences to 20 key practical tips from someone with more than 30 years of caring for those with cognitive loss and their caregivers—all for less than the cost of a six-pack of Ensure.I applaud the brevity of the writing. We all need to do the hard work of letting go of our expectations and of making adjustments for living in our loved one’s reality, not our own. Whether the reader jots down notes in the workbook pages or not, the point is to do the homework of preparing for interactions with loved ones with cognitive loss. In a phone call or a visit, think it through in advance and take the initiative to start the conversation “in a calm, pleasant, and enjoyable manner” following the guidelines in this book. Words and tone matter!

Most helpful book on talking to dementia patients
This is a very small book but packed with excellent advice. I have read over it multiple times and recommended it to others.
