We bought his Thinkpad used and it was originally part of a no-frills corporate bulk purchase with no internal battery. We got it cheap when the corporation did their refresh. I'd read some people have trouble making Thinkpads recognize and utilize the internal battery if it wasn't configured for it in the original distribution but this fit right in and the Thinkpad charged it and started using it immediately. I didn't have to download drivers or do any reconfiguration. Old school 'plug and play'. Just make sure you are getting exactly the right model/type for your Thinkpad. Review: Does what I bought it to do, so far pretty satisfied - I was starting to have issues with my laptop and rather than replacing the whole thing (not cheap) I thought I would try a new battery, even though the one in it was less than two years old. When I went to desertcart to buy another one of what I had, oddly that vendor was no longer available and neither was the battery. I was feeling better about my decision to drop ~$40 on a new battery. A month or two into the new battery and it seems to be back to behaving itself normally. No more issues where the laptop won't power on, no more blinking lights next to the power connector. Installation was nothing too difficult if you have the tools (small torx drivers, nothing that the battery manufacturer has any control over) and since putting it in I've been much happier. We'll see how it fares in a year or two - it could be that the HP design has problems and there's nothing the battery manufacturers can do with it :-)
