Drill is sharp and drills well, but if it is spinning in open air (say, when sticking out beyond the item drilled) it starts spinning in a cone, apparently because it is not as stiff as other bits. Seems like all the flexing involved will eventually break the bit in two, and it is also scary.

I got the 8" long 1/8" bit for pre-drilling holes in cedar fence boards so I could easily screw the fence boards onto my stringers. Most 1/8" bits are short and can only drill through two 5/8" cedar boards at a time but this 8" bit is able to drill holes through 8-10 boards at a time. I had no problem drilling holes through 160 boards. I found the bit held up and was durable. It seems pretty sharp and was able to get through several knots without too much extra effort. Since it's a 1/8" bit and 8" long, I found that I needed to be careful starting the bit so that it didn't bend a little and change the overall direction as it passed through the wood. I found that if I started it with very little pressure and allowed it to get started by at least a half inch, it would remain pretty straight going through the rest of the boards. This bit saved me time for sure. I couldn't find anything like it in any big box stores near me. I liked that the flute length is long and covers most of the body of the shank. I think that feature really helped with the ease and speed of the drilling process. The bit came in a small square double ended plastic case which I thought was handy to keep it from getting lost. I'd recommend this bit.

Needed something to drill pilot holes. This should work pretty well. Got two just in case I snap one.

Drilled 42 holes through 4x4 posts. The last hole was just as easy and smooth as the first.

I used this in my lathe to drill a hole in a stainless bolt. I went slow, drilled with light pressure, cleared the chips regularly and kept the bit oiled.Got 2 inches in and snapped it off.The tip did not appear dull. Perhaps this bit is for wood and plastic, not steel.

I needed this drill to make a hole through a 6 inch long piece of half inch round bar. The drill performed perfectly. Very impressed! I would definitely buy another!

While it is a drill bit, and will make a hole, it was curved enough that the resulting 8" deep hole was way oversize.
