Excellent beach book
Canseco is a whiner whose motto is "its not my fault". When in fact it is. He blames everyone else for his bad decision making. Still he almost had me believing I should take steroids and HGH right away--until I remembered my endocrinology from med school...hepato- and cardio-megaly, frontal bossing, increasing nose and ear cartilage size and other forms of "gigantism", pituatary issues and more. Look at all the facial plastic surgeries that Schwarzenegger and Stallone went through. He outs everyone, except Sammy Sosa who blew it with a corked bat.And yet it is a good fun read. He and other enhanced monsters saved baseball from the '94 strike.

Still Pondering This Book.................
Excellent "read" , very smooth , can't decide if Jose is friend or foe ? It seems what he has written has come to fruition & is the truth , much to the dismay of the baseball "gods" that be ! But Jose himself seems to be looking for self pity , like he's "humble" , whereas he also mentions after he was a plain player he just so happened to be awarded the MVP of that particular team he was on . Seems very well educated in 'roids , but IS NOT a rocket scientist , he does acknowledge that , thinks that 'roids will be commonplace someday with our "battle" of aging . Plays the "race" card far too much , I am an avid baseball fan & never cared that he was Cuban or Latino , or anything other then an American League ballplayer . Nor do any of my friends care where he came from , but all agree , some of the "white" boys were probably "protected" , as will always be the case.........Are his & other players records tainted , read the book & form your own opinion , it's worth taking the time to read , it is an "insiders" look into the game from one of the potentially best players of all time.........I just feel his time in the pros was still wasted , I just have that feeling after reading his book........sad actually ! I'm still wondering & questioning this read , which makes a book worth the price on its' cover .........Donald S. Grzebielucha , Buffalo , New York

Jose Canseco didn't care who he offended in this book, which is why it was a bestseller.
Juiced was a searing indictment of baseball, from a player who benefitted from the game and who suffered from the game too.I know Juiced was a well written book and a page turner, but the book was also a diatribe for Jose Canseco. Canseco wouldn't have wrote this book if he would have been accepted back into the MLB fraternity. But I'm glad he did write this book because it exposed what has always been a dirty little secret about the MLB, which is the usage of steroids by many players of different ability levels. One of the best things about this book was that Canseco was real about his usage of steroids and why he felt he needed them. At the end of the day Canseco had talent, but he was chronically insecure about his talent and whether he belonged in the MLB.Meanwhile, Canseco went in on his former Oakland Athletics teammate Mark McGwire. One of the biggest reasons why McGwire and Rafael Palmeiro aren't in the Baseball Hall of Fame is because of this book. To this day (the book was released in 2005) McGwire darn near hates Canseco, and when you finish reading this book you'll see why.In conclusion, all the hype surrounding this book died down a long time. But this book's message and plot (if you will) still resonates 15-years later.

Jose Conseco becomes the MLB Pariah!
Jose Canseco's "Juiced" really introduced me to a bit of the steroid culture in baseball and the appeal that steroids definitely have. While reading "Juiced", I found myself yearning for the chance to try steroids and see what they would really offer to me (against all of my better judgment of course). He offers such a bright picture of them at times done in a disciplined way that who WOULDN'T want to give them a try when a career depends on them. The book is entertaining and as Jose says: he is an entertainer. Don't expect anything cerebral here ... just a interesting view of some of the baseball culture that you may or may not know about.I enjoyed the book for what it was and found it an entertaining, quick read that I enjoyed while floating around my swimming pool. This was perfect for that.

Very interesting
Very intriguing story. Jose Canseco gives an unfiltered view into his life as the individual that changed baseball forever. His story is full of twists and turns, I could hardly put the book down. Would recommend to any sports fan.

Five Stars
Great condition, and even a nice surprise, actually signed by Jose Canseco himself!
