660A Analogue Soldering Station from Antex

Wish I'd bought one years ago. This is a terrific tool which takes all the hassle out of soldering. The tip keeps its temperature even under extreme conditions such as 10 AWG wire into gold connectors. Just make sure you use the correct temperature for the solder you are using. Lead-free solder needs a higher temperature and the tip will seem to be "cold" if left at the lower temperature used for lead solder. A few minutes trial and error will pay dividends.

Antex are not cheap tools, but they last. This has just replaced it's 25 year old predecessor. Solidly built, good control, good range of tips. What else is there to say?

Excellent iron, simple to use and good performance. You don't need digital displays etc, a twist of the knob seems to be just as accurate. It replaced a budget iron that cost nearly as much, it heated up quickly but hadn't got enough thermal mass for large tags etc. You can throw anything at the Antex and it seems to cope. Spares tips etc are also easy to find.

Well designed, sturdy, easy to use, perfect for professional applications. It does the job! It's a pity that the main unit is made in China... the iron itself is made in Britain.

Well worth the extra money compared to cheaper models
