Cheap and functional
Worked well in a hand drill to set dowels and bore through holes in pine and oak. As another review stated, check the required RPM for your application.

So far so good.
I've used these for a few projects using pine wood (soft). No damage and they cut well enough. if youre going to use these on a hard wood, i suggest have a good drill. My drill is just 14.4V (ill be replacing it soon) and cutting hard wood with my drill and these bits would kill the battery TOO quickly.edit** A project I'm working on just forced me to use one of these bits on a very thin steel case from a scrapped DVD player (max 1mm thick). The 3/8" bit i used cut two holes and by the third hole, it was destroyed. It wont even cut soft wood anymore. The bit is done for. I was using a 6-Amp Dewalt corded drill.I stand by my 4 stars because I knew that at $12 these bits would survive soft woods but for harder materials, they would not do. Any consumer should have reasonable expectations and rate their purchases based on expectations. If your project calls for even a few holes cut into a hard material, find a set of bits meant for the job. I barely managed 3 holes (luckily it was all I needed). For soft wood and plastics these bits are worth the great price. Also, when using these bits, make sure you're using them correctly. 'Pump' action will keep the temperature lower and prevent deforming of the steel.

I mostly use on soft wood, but they make a super clean hole
I mostly use on soft wood, but they do make a super clean hole. Haven't tried on hardwood yet, but would guess they will do just fine.

Got the job done
Definitely got the job done only use 1/2” and 1” but haven’t broke yet and I definitely can say I put them to the test. Will re-update should anything happen as I did read mixed reviews but I think if you are using a drill that can handle the tips you should be good. Case is definitely a plus to keep bits protected and stored properly. Handy bonus

A few details not mentioned in the product details on Amazon for those who are interested.
I used the 1/4" and the 3/8" bits with my hand drill to finish off a number of holes I had previously drilled using high speed steel brad point bits. I used these Forstner bits to provide a little better bottom to the holes. Used in this fashion they did fine. These are not carbide nor HSS steel bits ... they are carbon steel bits.UPDATE 8/30/2015 - I have used the 1/2" and 5/8" bits on well over thirty 2" to 3" holes on a project making a cabin door out of 2X6 Ponderosa pine boards ... heavy work. The bits have done a good job ... better than I would have expected. . For the price they are excellent. Here are a few additional facts that may be of interest to others that are not mentioned in the product details on Amazon.1. The bits are made in China.2. The 1" bit (rpm values are stated on the bits themselves) is only good for a maximum of 450 rpm. The 7/8" for 500 rpm max. 3/4" bit - 500 rpm max. 5/8"- 500 rpm max. 1/2"- 500 rpm max. 3/8"- 700 rpm max. 1/4"- 700 rpm max. These low RPM requirements may explain why many are having problems with their bits. I won't be able to, for instance, use them with my "Total Shop" (like a Shop Smith) because the minimum Total Shop speed is 850 rpm. So I can only use them with a hand drill.3. The bits didn't come in a protected WOODEN case. They did come in a protected plastic case as shown in the product information on Amazon. However I'm happy with the plastic case.4. I paid $11.45 for these bits.

They hold an edge well with use and are easily sharpened with a hand sharpener
These forstner bits function perfectly. The case they came in was a bit cheap and fell apart when it arrived. I didn't care about the case though I just wanted the bits themselves. They hold an edge well with use and are easily sharpened with a hand sharpener. The price is cheap and they hold up well so I give them 4 stars.

cheap case, nice bits
these are great for the price. i use them quite often and they havent broken, or dulled yet. nice for the price. the case is a little cheap on the plastic clear lid part, basically this plexiglass that pops in, but doesnt effect the bits.

WOW great!
Why I did not purchase these years ago I will never know! THESE are amazing- So easy to use and line up to make the perfect hole.Very solid and very sharp - i use them almost everyday on everything from soft and hard woods to plastics and I haven't discovered any signs of wear yet. Very impressed and I ordered more to give out for birthday gifts this year.

Muy buenas herramientas.
Aunque no las uso diariamente, han tenido muy buen nivel de operación. Yo las recomendaría para uso no frecuente por precio y presentación.
