No internet required
I am very happy with these scales. It's the first one I have been able to find that does not require an internet connection to sync data from the scales to your phone. The app you download is called FITvigo. I have an iPhone 5se and the bluetooth connection was fine. When you load the app it asks you if you want to register with their cloud service. You can select no, and just have a local device account. Why everyone wants to put all their personal data in the cloud is beyond me. The only reason I bought these scales was because I tried the app first and it allowed me to proceed in creating a local account with no internet. When you get the scales, make sure your bluetooth in enabled. And you hold down a button on the back of the scales for 2-3 seconds which then pairs the device. This was no trouble as there is a video built into the app that that demonstrates this process. However, what is confusing is the slot control. The naming of it makes it sounds like bluetooth radio channel, but I think it's just the name of a profile that you want to associate with the scales. This could be reworked.Once you have paired your device, you can then weigh yourself. There is a bluetooth icon on the scales that shows it is connected to your phone. After it has analysed your body composition you can step off and it will send the data to the app. However, this is where it got a little inconsistent. I was expecting the data to show up straight away once the scales had powered down. I had to physically terminate the app in iOS and restart it. My measuresmets were then available.Maybe if I had waited longer they would of eventually been displayed in the app.Once the first readings were in the app, the process was very easy. It does look like you have to navigate away from the readings tab into a different part of the program, or close the app and reopen it sometimes for the data to refresh. Sometimes you don't need to do this.I also tested this in airplane mode, and disabled the apps data permissions, and I got successful readings. The app does sometimes remind you to turn on the data, but this message is not too frequent. I should be able to use scales without data. If they do change the app where they forcefully make you sign up to a stupid cloud based account I'll be getting a refund.Another good feature is that they allow you to export your biometric data into a PDF or CSV file which is nice. Each measurement that you take is also stored in time date order, and can be deleted as well. The scales are beautiful and comes with batteries. There's a plastic strip that you pull out to activate them. I wish more manufacturers would take people's privacy more seriously, and they would get more business. Instead of trying to harvest people's personal data, and then analyse it for marketing / selling purposes. And windows dressing it as a fun social movement, ohh you can share data with your friends and share your goals publicly. Not thanks!I hope the author of this app will iron out some of the issues I have discussed here. If they give me access to the source code, I could do it.
