Brillant
As a self-learner in the field, I find this book very useful as it not only introduces the fundamentals very concisely and clearly, but also puts the theory into practice through many worked examples / exercises. The author make a point of providing as much details as possible, even for steps that may seem straightforward. He has no problem making a point several times, and this is totally fine with me as the points are fundamental, and I find this is how I personally learn, through continuous practice and repeating the same steps over and over again, to make sure they are properly understood. The reading is delightful. I am devouring this book, and am also devouring the author's other book on geotechnical rules of thumb.Very highly recommended to self-learners who think "pile design is only for geotechnical engineers". In the way the author presents it, you will find the topic is not only approachable, but also incredibly interesting.
