Mk 2 Capri - Opportunity Missed
Not a lot has been written on the Mk 2, most people tend to skip from Mk 1 to Mk 3, but as the former owner of a 1976 Mk2 2.0S - a car with real character has been missed. Sure, the Mk 2 is covered and there are various pics of the Ghia and the JPS - not a bad thing. BUT, the Mk 2 GT seems to be missing, that was the predecessor to the JPS which then became the S - with blackout window trims, stripy "deckchair" seats and the Ford RS front chin spoiler - the last item changed the face of the car and set the bar for the Mk3 that replaced it in steel. Mk2 3.0S X pack - not here. An Orange sporty Capri, not here. Also, when there was a picture of a door card that described it as an S, it wasn't the same as my 76. The Mk 2 was overlooked, it was the first hatchback and in my opinion was both more slender and prettier than the Mk 3 (bumpers and lights). Nice to get some coverage, but opportunity missed.

Very informative
Concentrates more on the specifications of each model than the history. Lots of excellent photos that have obviously been taken just for this book (the cars used for the photos are fantastic by the way and a credit to their owners). Plenty of interesting facts and I imagine this publication would come in very handy for anyone undertaking a restoration. Wish I'd kept my Capri, my dad always said it would be a classic one day !!
