Honeywell EARD6TZ Round Fresh Air Damper, 6"

Received it in good time. Seems to be in good shape. Haven't installed yet

This arrived new in the box. This unit replaced an older mechanical version that had failed years ago and I had just turned it off at the controller because I thought it was going to be a pain to replace. I was having an HVAC friend install a humidifier so I figured why not replace this as well. I watched him do it and I laughed as it was super simple, nearly plug and play in my situation.**CAUTION: Turn off the furnace first. Cut off the strap holding on the flex ducting, disconnect the old unit from the return (may require removing some screws and some "pooky" as he called), throw out old unit, old unit slips right in, attach 3-4 screws, seal with duct tape around the collar, install flex duct and strap down, then connect 2 wires from controller to unit. Done and done.The existing controller hooked up to this unit without issue. It is functioning flawlessly as of right now and is super quiet. There are a couple of settings on the unit to keep it open a few degrees so fresh air is always allowed in. HVAC friend said it wasn't necessary and to just let it close all the way, so I left it in the default state.Overall extremely happy with the purchase and in the event this one goes bad, I know it's pretty simple to replace without having to call an HVAC person.

It seems as though it will do the job, but it's nearly impossible to attach a pipe to it. The crimped end is hardly crimped and I had to cut it and reshape it to get the conduit on it. The uncrimped end seems just a tad too small for a conduit to fit inside as it should.

Does what I need to add fresh air to our foam insulated home

Good price and ideal replacement for existing damper with damaged, plastic gear. With this unit, I now only have to replace the motor assembly unlike the previous item.
