With a great deal of historical information on jewelry and an extensive amount of photos, this is a great book for not just fixing up and repairing jewelry but also an educational tool. I learned more than I ever thought possible about jewelry. This isn't just another boring jewelry craft book. There is truly a great deal of useful info. I recommend this book to anyone with a desire to learn about jewelry in a straight-forward and insteresting manner, as well as anyone wanting to learn how to fix up their jewelry. Its a fun hobby .

Not only does it help you fix all kinds off jewelry, but gives you a course about jewelry, from the different ages, stones, metals, how to clean repair, re-bead, findings language for ordering repair items and all about the different plastics. I am so happy that I purchased one for me and one for both of my antique and jewelry stores! I only wish I had found this book a lot sooner! Excellent

When my mentor, a great silversmith, retired, I lost the impulse to continue working with silver. This excellent book may be the prod to get me back to my work bench (overflowing with projects never completed). It truly covers every aspect of jewelry making. The book is physically attractive and the images are bright and clear. If you're simply interested in replacing rhinestones in costume jewelry, this may be more than you need, but I love the book.

Interesting read- some very good methods for cleaning and repair. This is not however a cure all for all repairs. Many vintage pieces of jewelry loose their value if you change or add parts. Clear and concisely written, this is not a guide that allows you to grab something out of the kitchen cabinet to repair or clean vintage jewelry. You should be ready to purchase other supplies to make the repairs if you are serious about making quality repairs and to clean things properly without unwanted results.

Terrific book to have on hand. So informative and good photos. A friend loaned me hers and I decided it was something I needed to buy.

The history and background information on the jewelry added great value to the book. Each repair is illustrated and gives detail for the repair jeweler. Materials and stones discussed provide expertise to handle and made repairs. Learning more about antique jewelry helps in understanding the composition of the items. I am no longer avoiding doing repairs, thanks to this book.

This turned out to not be what I thought it was going to be. Disappointed. Good information just didn't apply to me in most instances. I keep looking for tips I can use...a little bit behind in my reading right now. Have it so I can return and look at the material with in a different light.
