Bucilla Glitzy Ornament Kit, 6 Count

This is the first time I have done a craft like this. When I opened it up and saw all the tiny intricate pieces and read some of the directions, I was a little overwhelmed. I started the first ornament and took each step one at a time. This made it a little less overwhelming and I finished my first ornament and it doesn't look too bad. I am ready for ornament #2. I love the finished product but getting there wasn't the easiest.This is the first felt stocking I've done in decades so I was rusty. I had to rely on the instructions alone till some memory started coming back of what I did before. That's the main problem with the kit...the instructions.They are printed on a large sheet of paper (19" x 25") on both sides, sections put where ever they fit so you'll end up refolding a lot. The instructions are sparse, they don't give tips or do hand-holding, it's easy to miss something or misunderstand. Kits I did previously were much more informative than this and remembering bits of earlier instructions helped here. The main omission with this kit is not telling you to baste down larger (especially) felt pieces before you applique. That will save hours/days of frustration, especially for the horns. (pinning doesn't work well with thick layers of felt) You will need to refer to the photo that comes with the stocking a lot, and at times you'll need to puzzle things out.You get plenty of floss, beads, and sequins, but polyfill and a large embroidery needle aren't included. (I scavenged filling from a cheap stuffed animal for this, you don't need much) The needles that are included weren't very good so I used my own (Singer assortment), and you should get some needle threaders because you'll be changing thread a lot. I also bought a pair of small detail scissors and strongly suggest you do too. They make ALL the difference because you usually end up having to cut out pieces on the wrong side of the line and precision cutting really matters here. You're going to spend many hours putting this together, make it as easy for yourself as you can.This kit isn't beginner friendly, it's best if you have some hand-sewing/felt stocking experience (and patience). But when you do complete it, it's an impressive piece.

Now one for each of my nieces & nephews...8 more stockings 🤪I feel you really need to be organized and somewhat patient to do these. 1. Picture the thread comes in a jumble. You must lay out the thread and slowly pull each color out. 2. Picture all have been separated. 3. Instructions says to cut thread in half, which makes the thread more manageable to work with. I recommend pull the long colors apart first then cut. Hint: When separating the strands of thread needed to embroider. Take the color you will be working with. There are 6 strands wrapped together. Grab on to one strand and slowly pull. Repeat when you need more. DON’T try and pull more than one at a time you’ll get a knot. 4. You’ll need 2 pairs of scissors.As I go along I’ll try and add more to my review.

Enjoyable to work, and not too difficult. I made some modifications. For this purpose, and to hide the markings for where embroidery should be worked, you may want to work on the reverse side of the felt pieces.

I didn't read closely enough to realize that you have to make the ornaments. Completely my fault - and I'm capable of making them - just didn't plan to.

Beautiful snowflakes, just like their pictures. Used them to add to Christmas packages as a special touch to complement the wrapping paper. After, they can adorn teach receiver's tree for years to come.

Just what I was looking for! A project that was of medium intensity and took some time and created great results !

Very cute sock; one of the easier ones to put together; the supplies are better quality too. Only thing was one of the needles, the beading needle, broke while I was using it. That is the 2nd needle that I have had break on me from one of these kits.

Bought this as Christmas present (early I know) materials and quality of felt etc very good Excellent present for keen crafter - fast delivery even though it wouldn't have mattered if it had taken longer as it is for Christmas 2016

Ich habe leider Zoll und EUSt für diesen Artikel bezahlen müssen (da ich gleich mehrere Stücke bestellt habe), der Händler hat mir diesen Betrag jedoch nach Rücksprache sofort erstattet. Alles kam in sehr gutem Zustand bei mir an. Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Verkäufer und mit der Ware. Wenn man erst mal fertig mit sticken ist sehen die Ornamente einfach wahnsinnig schön aus und glitzern toll. Wirken zudem sehr edel.
