American Eagle Cast Iron Fireback

What can I say, I love to make a fire.Moved into new house that had a wood burning fireplace but the heat was minimal. Felt like the fire was drawing cold air in even. I did my research and everything pointed at a fireback and cast iron being the natural go to.Would I say that 200% more heat comes out of the fireplace? No. But it is a noticeable difference from what I experienced before. And it looks good to boot. I just wish they made different designs in different sizes because I had my heart set on the larger deer one but it wouldn't fit my fireplace. The eagle is great and better than other designs so I am satisfied therePackaging was pretty much in shambles when it arrived. Yeah it was 46lbs of cast iron, but add some protection other than just cardboard. The edge was notched from being dropped and the chest of the eagle was scuffed so that it showed a more iron grey rather than black. Not a huge problem but not something I like to see on a "new product". That is why I would give this a 4 star is simply because of poor packaging. I spent $189 give me some padding for $2 for cheesus rice.

When i had initially read reviews and literature about how fire-backs improve heat efficiency by 50%, I did not realize how inefficient fireplaces were. While it has a noticeable impact on heat output, the efficiency increase this has is taking your fireplace from about 15% efficient to ~23% at best performance. Definitely impact but not a miracle worker. I love it, it is beautiful, and i don't regret the purchase at all, but don't expect to be turning your furnace off just because you bought a fire-back.

If you think this will make your standard fireplace give off more heat.... it will not. Looks great!

The American Eagle fire back works as expected. It does seem to throw a bit more heat out than without it. I mainly wanted to protect the back of my fireplace and this worked great for that. I measured the fireplace before hand and found that this fire back would fit perfectly and it did.I was looking on and off for a few years. Originally, I was finding fire backs in the $250-$450 range. This I was not willing to spend. I bought this item for $157 and I can't be happier. I would definitely make this purchase again.

Install one of these before you burn a lot of wood - you'll be glad you did!

I love how this looks in my fireplace. Very heavy and great quality. I also purchased the feet to elevate it to the prefect height.

In addition to being totally functional piece added to my fireplace this cast-iron Black American Eagle Fire Back is attractive and it's great deal of character and atmosphere. Initially I wasn't so sure that you would be able to view the Eagle as well as you actually can. The craftsmanship is solid and I would recommend this to anybody that wanted to enhance their fireplace.
