Delta Blues Rice (Jasmine, 2 LB)

I was expecting a new, interesting, rice cereal. That's not what this is. Well, it can be used as a cereal, but it's actually little pieces of rice that appear to have been chopped up in normal rice processing. If you add enough water to it, as you cook it, it does get a bit creamier than "normal" rice, but I suspect that's because minute pieces of rice are included in the mix, and they provide the creamy effect. Add some capers, cheddar, garlic, turmeric, and olive oil, and you approach what regular grits are, in the AM. Bon Appetit!I added two stars as I have mastered how to cook this rice, perfectly. Chefs tend to do that, over time. The key is to first understand that you will spend about twenty minutes cooking up a perfect serving of rice grits. That being said: Pour about a half-inch of rice grits into your bowl. Empty into a stainless steel pot. Add water to cover and then an extra inch. Cook, stirring often. When all of the water is absorbed and/or lost to evaporation, add more water. Repeat this two times. Take a little rice out of the pot. Put it in your sampling sieve. Run under cold water. Test it. It should be very soft, not at all al dente. Put your other ingredients into the pot, with the heat off. Amazing!

Having lived in Japan and Korea for a total of 4 years and being married to an Asian who eats rice every single day. I will say this is high quality rice and smells and taste just as good as the Jasmine Rice we buy in the local commissary. My only suggestion is maybe reduce the packaging. Maybe a 5lb and 10lb size? Growing up in Mississippi we used to eat corn grits daily so I am looking forward to trying to rice grits you added for me to try. California grows a lot of rice which a lot of it is shipped overseas so it's time to rethink American farms and our great products here.

I love the whole concept of this family-run business. I stumbled on this rice while shopping on-line for groceries. What a wonderful discovery. My first purchase was the brown rice. I prepared it in my Instant Pot with butter and bouillon. This rice is delicious with a beautiful texture. Reasonably priced and delicious! I’m ready for another purchase.

...this is probably the best rice I have ever cooked. I make Chinese food sometimes, and Cajun food sometimes, and in both cases I use this and I think I'm in love. Excellent flavor and texture. I gave some to my daughter and she felt the same way, so I gave her some more. I'm ordering more today for myself.I cook this rice -- like I cook all rice -- in a non-standard way: by boiling it in a large amount of water and then draining, just like you would with pasta. Delta Blues Jasmine Rice flavor & texture are still excellent with this method.

I prepared the delicious Rice grits I received from Blue Delta and added it to a combination of Cajun Shrimp...….talk about good! I am originally from Louisiana and Cajun food is one of my main"go-to" when company arrives for a special dinner. Thanks for introducing your wonderful product to my table.

Its really good but can get gummy really fast, takes a lot of water. it's really super fine brown rice so I am just getting used to it. I'd try it. it's a nice texture though

I been searching for these grits. Went to a SC wedding and these grits was served with shrimp and gravy as an appetizer at the reception. Everyone was thinking it was rice, I knew they weren’t regular grits and saw them advertised on a cooking show. Immediately went to amazon and bought couple bags. These rice grits are so fluffy and light they just need to be paired with the perfect sausage or country gravy. You wont be disappointed.

Until now, did not realize there could be such a taste difference among white rice. This rice sets itself waaay above the rest! Delicious! A clean and quality product- easy to cook. You can tell it’s from a company who takes pride in its product. It’s a bit pricier than what you’d get in the supermarket, but worth every bit!
