Thesiger's adventures are legion and he is a marvelous observer. The strength of this anthology is that it gathers Thesiger's best writing from several classic works like "Arabian Sands," and "The Marsh Arabs." Here, Thesiger describes his eearly explorations in Abyssinia, crossing Arabia's Emoty Quarter with the Bedu, living with the Marsh Arabs, hiking in the Hindu Kush, and, in his declining years, living with the Samburu people in northern Kenya.
