Something of the Saturday Special Sci Fi Feature about this movie
I think this is a good addition to the Predator universe of movies, I like them all pretty much and think they all have their own strengths and weaknesses as individual features. Each would seem to be as different from others and I only think the first two movies have any really strong continuity between them or are really canonical (despite the sequel Predators doing its best to pick up as a direct sequel to the first movie). This entry in the series I thought had something of the Saturday Special Sci Fi Feature about it, its not a major criticism, and I think its better than the Aliens V Predator movies, it also tried to develop themes introduced in Predators (although you could enjoy this movie without having seen any others in the series). However, it is a criticism, this movie felt like an introduction to an expanded universe which could be something like the Star Trek or Stargate SG-1 universes. Its not complete removed from the original Arnie movie, franchises do have to develop from their original premises or they stagnate but its a pretty different brand now.Ideas which felt fresh in this one include there being different "tribes" or "species" of Predators, some dedicated to biotech augmentation, others being smaller but dedicated to a different path of techno wizardry. This also appears to influence the consideration of mankind as worthy prey or not and also whether or not mankind deserves any assistance (I can only presume this is something along the lines of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" but it is something that'll be discussed back and forth and back and forth I guess). If you like monster mash sci fi movies then I'd recommend this film. Its fun and amusing, has some memorable content for fans or anyone new to the franchise alike (with the only caveat that it's going to prove a different feature for die hard fans of the original two movies). Recommended.

Hunters and hunted
A new movie in the Predator series of films. One aimed at getting the franchise going again. You could probably get into this without having seen the first three films [and definitely without either of the Aliens V Predator ones] but you will probably get more from it if you are familiar with them. The Predators are aliens who hunt for sport and for the thrill of it. And they are very good at doing that as well. Special ops guy McKenna [Boyd Holbrook] has a close encounter with one. When this puts his family at risk, he and a ragtag team are the only ones who can save the day. But the stakes might be higher than they suspect, and it might be the whole human race that are risk...This tries hard to be like a movie from the 80's, and thus recapture the dynamics that the first Predator had. Action, characters with camaraderie and humour coming from their interaction. Although it does do a bit more of that than said first movie did. It being the present day though, and not the 80's anymore, it does let a woman character be strong and get into the action as well.It also tries to pull together all the elements of the franchise so far, and forge a new path for it to go forward as a result. It succeeds at this. And it is watchable escapist hokum while it lasts. But it does show the signs of being a film that might have had a lot going on behind the scenes writing wise, thus some things don't come together quite so well as they could have. And ultimately, it doesn't succeed at being essential. It is as mentioned perfectly decent to watch, but you won't come away from this really desperate for more to follow along after.A good bit of three star escapism all in all, but ultimately nothing that will live as long reputation wise as the original. The dvd begins with a generic anti piracy ad, then a generic dvd one, but you can skip both via the next button on the dvd remote.Languages and subtitles:This is yet another dvd that just says English for both on the box, but on checking the disc turns out to have more;Subtitles: English, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Russian, Swedish, Estonian, Ukrainian, Latvian, Lithuanian. And one that I wasn't able to identify.Languages: English. English audio description. Russian. Ukrainian. And two that I am afraid I could not identify.Extras:Deleted scenes. Which can be watched all in a row or individually. Three of them, none longer than two minutes. None are desperately essential. And one is just a couple of outtakes. Unclear if they're meant to be funny or not. But they're not.A touch of Black. A good ten minute long overview of the whole project.Predator Evolution. The Takedown team. Two features, running eighteen and fourteen mins respectively. The first looks at the visualisation of the creature onscreen. The second at the main cast and characters. The first of these has some interesting behind the scenes stuff, but both go on a bit too long and get a bit dull.Predator catch up goes through the highlights of the first three Predator films, covering each in three mins.Gallery. A lot of stills and production art that can be looked through.

My best choice in a long time
This is a fantastic movie and a very positive sequel in the top quality Predator franchise.I had seen mixed reviews, but as I have the rest of the series on DVD I took a chance with this one, and that was my best choice in a long time. The visuals were super, none of the dark shadow stuff that made the second Alien v Predator so difficult to watch, this was a full colour bright-light, Hollywood quality production with a fortune spent on special effects. The storyline was interesting and fast moving with some nice twists, and some quite biarre moments of humour. The ending was exciting and convincing, with a real brawl and plenty of weaponry. In my opinion this is lots of fun and, at this price, it gets 5 stars for value.I don't suffer fools gladly, and some of my reviews can be scathing [as with the dreadful new Star Trek series] so please believe me when I say that this is a top quality film. Ignore the embittered reviews, that some have given, sit back in the right mood to have some fun and just enjoy this escapist romp.

I'm a huge sci-fi fan, and I love this series
Did not disappoint at all. Loved the action, and the gore. Ending leads nicely into the next sequel. Well done guys, great movie.
