Paulina Rubio - Ananda - desertcart.com Music Review: Paulina is back in pink. - It took Paulina a while to release a new cd but I think that it was worth the wait. This versatile singer comes back with "ANANDA" that follows her big success of "PAU-LATINA" in the sense of music fusions and sevaral types of music but this time I feel that Paulina has leaned more on rock music instead of her famous rancheras with a touch of hip-hop. Electric guitars are strongly present on tracks such as "NADA PUEDE CAMBIARME" that has Gun's n' Roses's Slash on lead guitar. This song is one of the highlights of the album. In the case of "MIENTEME UNA VEZ MAS" Paulina follows the direction of Evanescence, this song has the very same style of their music and sounds very good with Paulina's voice. Even though Paulina has concentrated more on rock, I also feel that she wanted to release something for everybody. But this is easy to understand because of group of people that she has chosen for this production. She has the style of Coti with the Ballad "AYUDAME". A mix between Coti and Julieta Venegas on "QUE ME VOY A QUEDAR" which is a catchy song but honestly the lyrics have no sense. She also had Junes as songwriter on "NO TE CAMBIO" this song is really good because it starts the first verse with flamenco and then starts a very nice combination between a very soft reggaeton, a bit of ballenato, pop and hip-hop a real gem for the album. The song that has the biggest ranchera style on the album is "AUNQUE NO SEA CONMIGO" but doesn't have a strong influence as "DAME OTRO TEQUILA" or "EL ULTIMO ADIOS". "ANANDA" also has pop songs like "RETRATO", "N.O" and the first single "NI UNA SOLA PALABRA" written by Xabi San Martin from Spain's La Oreja De Van Gogh. Comparing this album with her previous one "PAU-LATINA"...well I think that "ANANDA" is very good I really enjoy it but "PAU-LATINA" was more solid, maybe I think this because I heard it more and I got more used to it. The one thing I wanted not to find again is the interludes after each song, they're really short but unnecessary. A positive thing about this production, is the booklet because it has several pictures and lyrics. To finish this review I think that even though the critics for this album were not very positive. I think that it's a very good step for Paulina. The first single became a #1 hit in the U.S for several weeks and #2 in the main chart of all Latin America and gave Paulina her third entrance on Billboard's Hot 100 with a song that wasn't in English. The album debuted at #1 in the U.S on Top Latin Albums list and #25 on Billboard's 200 and became #1 also in several territories and sold up to 500,000 copies on its release week. Anyway, this is just commercial information but I think that the album is good maybe not her best but good, you won't be sorry with it if you like her music. Review: Worthy follow-up to Pau-Latina! - If you enjoyed Pau-Latina, you'll most likely enjoy this album, too! You'll find 45 minutes of enjoyable, entertaining POP in ANANDA. I enjoyed the whole album. NI UNA SOLA PALABRA is a winner and alone is worth the admission price. I also especially enjoyed TU Y YO, HOY and SIN FINAL. Other reviewers have rated LO QUE PENSAMOS as a stinker and the most annoying song ever. :>) Personally, I thought it was rather amusing and catchy, but I can see where its' repetitiveness might wear thin. In short--you'll either LOVE the track or HATE it. No middle ground on LO QUE PENSAMOS. I liked it--you might NOT! Like PAU-LATINA, ANANDA contains those short talking "interludes" between songs, but none quite as catchy as the "wind-up" Pau-Latina!! Another reviewer noted the same ODD minutes of silence after the last track with talking at the end. Didn't understand that on Pau-Latina--still don't understand it now! However, that 2 minutes of el silencio DOES give you an opportunity to go back to track one before your multi-disc CD player shuffles on to the next disc. This LIMITED EDITION, SPEC PKG CD has a fancy rounded corner case with a picture of Pau under the disc (VERY PINK--the disc, not Pau!) AND includes a six-panel, double sided "poster" of Pau. LYRICS included for those of us who READ Spanish better than we can speak it! Paulina Rubio may not have the best singing voice or write her own music, but she does deliver what you've come to expect--ENTERTAINING, POP MUSIC with a style all her own! It's not rocket science, but it works well enough for what it is. I give ANANDA FIVE STARS. Well produced and ENTERTAINING!!! You'll play it repeatedly, NOT yank it after the first go round!

Catchy opening number
I'm new to Paulina - only bought it cos I'm studying Spanish! Opening number really catchy and her diction is good - easy to sing along to. Didn't like the 2 remixes at all - Tracks 15 & 16. Not good on the ear. Love tracks 2, 9 and 14. My kinda beat.

Not much to it, I got what I wanted. The artist and songs. If you love Paulina, get the cd.

Don't know how to adjust to this album
I really hate to write this, but I really don't know what to make of this album. I have always loved every single album she has made, (including border girl), and I just don't know what to make of this one. I mean some songs are ok, but for the most part I went thru the album and did not get the feeling I got when I did the same with Paulina, PauLatina, 24Kilates, El Tiempo es Oro, etc . . . Maybe some remixes or bonus tracks will help this album. I still like it, its just definitely my least liked Paulina alum. I think Paulina let someone else take control of production rather than doing it herself. I will just wait for the next one.

''Ananda'' is a great latin pop album that combines this music genre with rock elements. None of the tracks is as good as the opening one, ''Ni Una Sola Palabra'' that easily overshadows all of the rest, but on the other hand, they are all very good and make a consistent album in terms of sound.
