This is a Purdy Tool. Helps keep brushes clean!
Great to keep those expensive brushes like new. Just rinse the brush, add some soap and wash it and run the comb through it to help get the paint out I wipe down the brush with a paper towel to get the bits of slightly dried paint off then a final rinse and give it another comb with this tool. hand brush and tool to dry. Makes a difference keeping brushes like new.

Works well and saves brushes
I would have given a higher rating but one of the prongs has already fallen out and in less than one year.

Loses teeth in use, potentially dangerous.
I cannot recommend this little tool, although I should have been able to do so.Many years ago, I was a full-time professional decorator, and used a tool very like this one to help keep brushes clean. I've been re-equipping as I set about finally painting my own house. Knowing how useful a tool like this should be, and that Purdy have a decent reputation, it made sense to get it.However, the first time I used it, one of the teeth--which are basically thick stainless-steel needles--fell out and straight into a sink waste-disposal! Thankfully, it wasn't running, or that would have ended badly and expensively. I managed to fish it back out with a magnet on a cord, thank goodness. So, I kept using the tool, more carefully, until the second tooth fell out. At which point I threw it away. It's only a couple of bucks, and compared to the cost of brushes and paint, trivial. But it doesn't meet basic quality standards, and I would urge you to use something else when cleaning brushes. Personally, I'll be using a stiff nailbrush instead.

Great comb for paint brushes
I've had issues with other combs tearing out bristles of brushes, usually because the comb teeth are cast or stamped material. This comb has very smooth tines and didn't grab any of the bristles on my brushes. Great comb for cleaning your brushes without doing damage. Simple, effective, quality product!

May draw blood.
I was looking for a brush comb to detail acrylic paint brushes. This comb looked like it was originally designed for larger paint brushes but I would try it and see how well it worked. I was not disappointed! The bristles of the comb are extremely sharp/pokey (will draw blood if you aren’t careful) but work well to break up the paint in the bristles that I had been softening in a brush cleaner and restorer solution. The restorer solution did take off the nice finish of the comb but that didn’t hinder the effectiveness of it. I also did have to use a dish brush on the bristles a couple times to get stuck gunk off but it was easy enough to do and again didn’t hinder the comb’s effectiveness. I have already recommended it to a friend.

Great for combing the locs of a quality paint brush
This is a relatively simple tool that will help extend the life of a paint brush and ease the cleaning process. The main reason for this product is to really get in between the bristles/filaments of a paintbrush and remove paint that your fingers can't. It prevents paint from binding near the metal band (heel hardening). I use this on my valued Purdy brushes like other Purdy products it is a step above the rest. This brush comb features 21 teeth most have 17 or 18 therefore it is worth the extra money. The advantage is when cleaning narrower brushes you still have enough teeth to get them clean. I use the comb while cleaning after rinsing the brush with water to get a lot of the stuck paint out then again after I am done cleaning it with detergent solution for latex paints or solvent when using oil based paints to ensure the bristles/filaments are straight prior to storing the brush.

Great Cleaner
My husband uses this tool when he paints. He always states that this tool helps with cleaning his paint brushes and ensures they last years. Bought as Christmas stocking stuffers for my sons who recently bought homes.

Brush comb, works better on quality tools.
Hmm, strange star ratings and reviews here! It is what it is, expensive yes but it does clean and maintain quality pro brushes like Purdy or Hamiltons. Replacing one I had years ago when I decorated professionally. Slowly getting my tools together and Purdy is a good brand.
