I was swimming at the YMCA when a lifeguard noticed how well my two-and-a-half-year-old was swimming with her puddle jumper on. This is what he recommended and let me tell you, I am so glad I bought this! He called this a swim trainer, you remove one floatation block at a time until they are swimming on their own. Unlike a puddle jumper, this allows their arms to be free and actually learn a paddling motion. I never let her swim freely in the pool with this on without me closely by for safety reasons. But I do like the fact we've gone from 4 stacked blocks to 2 in a matter of weeks (less buoyancy). So she's slowly getting a feel on how to swim. I had no idea this device was the stage between puddle jumper and swimming until the lifeguard suggested it. Love it! I know at least a handful of Mom's who have bought this since asking what it was at the pool.

Slightly less buoyant than the puddle jumper when using all the floats. My 3 year old definitely has to tread water to keep himself above the water (versus puddle jumper that just lets him float). He needs extra careful supervision since he gets tired easily, but it's a great next step to teaching him to actually swim. The ability to move his arms without restriction also has him naturally using his arms and legs together a lot more. Thanks!

Works great so far! Exactly what we wanted to help reinforce my son’s swim lessons. Easy to adjust the waistband, and easy to remove the layers as needed. I can see that the foam wouldn’t withstand too much rough play, but if you’re using it to swim and not subjecting it to unnecessary tugging/pulling, the foam layers should last awhile.

This really helped my 4 year old lear how to swim. She hates the puddle jumper life jacket. It always leaves rashes on her. So I thought I'd try this. And oh my, am I glad I did. She LOVES IT! It gives her the freedom of not having a life jacket, or being in a float. She can swim freely with ease. It's a great buy. She has almost mastered swimming, and it's only been a month and a half.
