Allprettyall 9 inch Banneton Bread Proofing Basket, Sourdough Brotform Natural Rattan Basket for Bread Baking - Includes Cloth Liner & Premium Dough Scraper

I've been baking bread for several months and had just been using a regular bowl for proofing. I have only used my new basket once so far, but the dough proofed perfectly and I will be using it all the time in the future. I carefully followed the included instructions for prepping the basket a day (or more) ahead of my first bake to help ensure the dough wouldn't stick during proofing. I think this part is key for using the new basket for the first time, so I would recommend holding on to the instruction card after you remove it from the basket. It also has the cleaning and care instructions so I plan to keep it on hand for the future as well. I then added a little more flour right before putting my dough in the next day, and even after an overnight rise in the fridge my dough released easily with no sticking at all when I turned it out. The included silicone bowl scraper was also a helpful bonus. Several of the baskets I looked at were more expensive than this one, so I was really happy with the value after seeing how well it worked. I would definitely recommend it as a great value, with the note to follow the instructions that come with it.

I'm new to bread making, so I went to YouTube for tips. Found out that a banneton was a useful tool when proofing sourdough, so I purchased this one from Amazon. It came right away and in good shape. I really like that it came with a heavy duty silicone dough scraper, too. It retains the moisture which helps the rise. The dough releases best if you use rice flour. The company emailed me a couple times to let me know it was on its way and again to see if I was happy with it--that's great customer service!

Although sourdough baking websites claim that a banneton is not necessary, this proofing basket has definitely improved the results of my loaves. I had been using a stainless steel bowl line with a tea towel dusted with rice flour, but I found my loaves a bit more difficult to score and did not get the oven spring and rise that I wanted. Instead of using the liner included with the basket, I used a tea towel. My resulting loaves have been amazing. I think that this basket allows the dough to “breathe” and wick away excess moisture. (I still either cover my basket with plastic wrap or place it in a large ziploc bag (a 4-gallon size) when doing my overnight retard in the fridge.) I found my loaves easier to score and the rise and oven spring of my loaves have improved dramatically. I will always proof my sourdough in a banneton.

I ordered this 9" proofing basket with a liner and a dough scraper. I got an 8.5" basket with a different liner and no dough scraper. Not worth the effort to return it and I needed it right away, so I went ahead and used it. I'm definitely happy with the results. The proofing basket makes a difference. My loaf of sourdough held it's shape better than proofing it in a bowl, colander or on a Silpat sheet. Although I'm disappointed that Amazon made the substitution, I'm happy with the bowl I got. For that reason I downgraded my rating.

Haven't used it yet. But it is a little different from the picture and has a faint chemical smell of unknown orgin. Mixed bag.Minuses: Its missing that orange logo on the shower cap and the dough scraper does not have the measurements as pictured. It smells a bit chemically with the finish and it was shipped from Asia. I foolishly thought "Banneton" meant from France.Pluses: Looks Sturdy. Price point was good. It also arrived way earlier then Amazon listed.If the smell goes away....I might buy another.

As other comments mentioned, mine did not come with the scraper. The liner also doesn't have the orange logo, which doesn't bother me but suggests that the pictures for this listing are not accurate. The basket is smaller than listed as well.

Hand wash the liners. It would have been nice to have had those washing instructions. Maybe they're now good for a doll house baking set 😏Also, take the liner out of the bowl before using it the first time -- there is a silicone moisture absorbing packet between the liner and the bowl.

The media could not be loaded.  I chose this over others for the measurements on the scraper and logo on the linen. Thought I was getting something special. No logo or measurements. Haven’t used as yet so I can’t attest to quality and easy of care etc.

I purchased this banneton along with another oval one and I have to say, I'm not really happy with them. I read the reviews prior to purchasing and read a number of articles online about how some of these wicker baskets have a "slight odour". Honestly, "slight odour" is an understatement. I've tried cleaning them multiple ways but they smell horrible. There's no way I'm putting food in them. Save your money and go with a different company.

I was concerned that the size was too small but it works perfectly. The dough turns out of the basket well. It's a very sturdy constructions and looks like it should last a long time. I've used it twice but haven't used the bowl liner yet.

Doesn’t look like the photo. The rattan is cracked and has splinters. The fabric doesn’t have the pretty logo like in the photo. Even the scraper is different.

If you hit here because you just bought the FWSY book, you came to the right spot. 9 inch is what you want. The scrapers are especially helpful cleaning out those cambro containers. Recommended.

I've only used the banneton with the liner a few times thus far and am very pleased with the purchase. The basket seems to be of good quality and the silicone scraper comes in handy. The 9" size is larger than I thought, I was concerned it might be too small, but this basket is perfect for me.
