Use a filter
First, the facts: This is a 1/2 inch diaphragm valve with a 3/4 inch adapter on it. It is not a 3/4 inch valve. It came with a 3/4 inch FIP bulkhead fitting. It has a shielded float that uses a magnet at the top to shut off the diaphragm when when the float is pushed to the top by liquid. On the inlet side there is a small screen to catch particles that might interfere with operation. All diaphragm valves are sensitive to particles plugging off the tiny holes in the diaphragm and this one is no exception. It can be cleaned by popping out the perforated disk at the bottom of the float and removing four phillips head screws.I set this valve up on the fill line inside a 3,500 gal tank on our ranch. It replaced an over complicated system using a float switch to control a 24v diaphragm valve to fill the tank. It worked for about a month but the fill rate started slow and got slower. I took it off and found the inlet screen was plugged off and rusted. The thing is about the size of the tip of my little finger. It had to be removed in an attempt to clean it. The inlet screen was destroyed when I removed it due to rust and brittleness. I installed an inline filter (spin down self-cleaning type) with a 40 mesh screen filter on the fill line. Immediately I saw a huge flow difference from the original flow volume. The system now operates flawlessly and I don't have to babysit anything. Please note; I found another diaphragm float valve on the net and tried it out in the middle of all this and it was junk and never worked. I am happy with this valve and it has operated now for 6 months with no further issues.

Failed
Using this in my pool auto fill. Shuts all the way off when full and all the way on when triggered. Compact design. Have to plumb to correct height. Turns on near bottom of sticker - turns off near middle of sticker. Update: Getting some dripping around black plastic, not through valve - but seeping from housing -- may return. Update: Well, valve ultimately failed in the open position allowing my pool to overflow for a few hours. Too bad - was hopeful it would be a solid solution.

Mine doesn’t work.
Got one of these to control the level of my Koi pond. It does not turn on when it is supposed to. It does not turn off at all. The advertisement boasts “the valve is either all the way open or all the way closed “, yet mine will sputter for a while, then open fully. Stick with the floater design.

Good job
This is about as good as I have ever used.. after two years and careful cleaning the weight began sticking in closed position .. I added a small amount of lead tape to the top and it’s been working well for the last 4 months
