An attractive but expensive garden ornament
I can't deny I love the look of this, and I'd never have thought of having a water butt but I was looking for an option to having drainpipes running across a brick wall and this solved the problem perfectly, it's more expensive then most of the others but I required it to be a feature, it does look amazing ... but ... Having had a lot of rain since it was installed I've now had to empty and redo the connecting tap 3 time and it's still leaking even with half a roll of ptef tape also and this is very disappointing water doesn't naturally flow upwards!!! So using it to water the plants is impossible as the min you lift the hose higher then about 8 inches off the ground the water stops flowing! Other then solving my ugly drainpipe problem it's an expensive ornament

Good looking water barrel.
It looks much nicer than the traditional butt. However, the instructions weren't very clear and one component was missing in my pack. The suppliers sorted the error out very quickly and the component arrived with improved instructions.

Fantastic
I works just like it should, easy to assemble and have had no problems with our many storms.

Attractive, Functional & Environmentally Friendly...but
I have had my eye on these and the larger ones for well over a year but each time they were sold out before I could put in an order. Spur of the moment saw these and ordered 2 immediately. I opted for the "smaller" 50 gallon rain barrel which is still the same size as most on the market albeit MUCH more attractive.Delivery was very quick - 2 days. Both arrived wrapped in a plastic bag with the contents stuffed inside. I suspect mine were originally boxed since there was a card-board shipping label taped to the top of each but it's hard to say - the local deliver seems to be pretty tough on products lately and one arrived with the side pushed in a bit. I'm going to try and fill it up to see if it pops back out as well as test the seams to make sure there are no other problems that don't readily meet the eye.The hose is a very inexpensive quality - you will likely want to replace it and I've already ordered better quality remnants available elsewhere on Amazon itself. Also, the valve is located at the very bottom of the container - you should get maximum drainage unlike other models where the discharge spout is higher up the side (or even at the top in some models...which makes no sense to me whatsoever). These truly do look like clay or adobe especially at a distance. Are lightweight when empty and the total effect is very pleasing. A terrific alternative to those with HOA restrictions or just searching for a visually pleasing product. The price is very competitive to most others on the market although certainly a lot higher priced than finding your own used soap bucket or such. Locally even those go for $40 and up...if you can manage to find them at all. My one MAJOR irritation - and it has nothing to do with the item itself - is these were clearly from Amazon return department. I ordered new and it just annoys me to get returns instead of new items when I pay full price. I really feel this should be disclosed PRIOR to purchase and/or discounts provided if you are ordering a returned product. However, the product is lovely, shipping was fast (still not sure about that box) and the price was competitive with other options (although irritating to get refurbished rather than new).Quick Update - The "dent" from shipping popped right out without effort when filling. These look even better when set-up. Were very easy to steady - we set each one on a large concrete stepping stone which provided just enough stability for them to remain level without getting weighed down into the soil/grass. These are VERY heavy when filled (estimated to weight over 400 lounds just from weight of 50 gals of water) and the drain valve is so low you will want to keep it out of the grass. Overall very pleased! By far the most attractive rain barrel I've encoutered to date...

looks good, not well designed
We bought this just less than a year ago because we thought it was the best looking rain barrel we could find and wanted it to look nice at the front of our house. We also liked the idea of a planter incorporated into the design. When it arrived, it was in a large box with zero padding & had a fairly large dent in it. My husband correctly said once the water was in it, the dent would be invisible. The incorporated planter was so shallow and small, with no drain hole, there is no way for it to be usable except with an artificial plant. By far the worst part of the entire design is the hose attachment. It came with a 3 foot hose that attached by slipping one end of the hose over the protruding plastic spout at the bottom of the barrel and uses a clamp to secure it. It has had to be tightened several times this year because it falls off so easily. It really hasn't been used more than once or twice a month, so it cannot be from wear and tear. The other end has a metal and plastic fitting with a swivel on/off device. Today, the metal part just snapped off while in use, which of course shot water all over. Thankfully, my husband is a very handy guy & was able to rig up a solution. A few months after we purchased this 'pretty' barrel, our town sold rain barrels in a much more basic design, but at less than half the cost. We bought it for the back yard and use it at least once a week. The hose fittings work just like the spigot on the house, attached to the barrel & we have never had ANY problems with it. If Algreen would alter their hose attachment design, this would be a MUCH better product. If other companies can make a better product for less money, I'm sure Algreen is capable of improving their design.

GREAT WATER STORAGE SYSTEM & GREAT SERVICE
I liked the look of this and the good reviews. I don't have gutters and a pipe to fit into it. In the rainy season a lot of water drips off the roof, I don't need any gutters. It arrived last week at the end of the dry season. The day after I set it up we had a heavy rain storm, it rained a few days and was soon full.I didn't have any problems with the hose that came with it. I'm not very technically minded, and felt pleased with myself when I managed to put the parts on. I'd read that some reviewers had leaks in theirs where the hose goes in, I made sure I used plenty of plumbers tape on the two places with threads, and wrapped it on tightly! It came with a little bit of plumber's tape, which I used, plus some extra that I already had.It has two dips at the top. The smaller one (where the gutter pipe goes) has a plastic cover over it with small holes for the water to drip through, two Phillips screws attach to it. The larger dip (for the plant) has 3 places to drill holes, for the water to drain out. You need an electric drill with a large drill piece. If the holes are too small, they get clogged up. I tried putting soil in it and a plant, but when it rained it got waterlogged. I'm considering using silk flowers or leaves. There's a hook that goes in a small hole at the top, this is for nestling the hose into, to keep it off the ground. There's a tiny lever that you can open or close to let water out. It looks very nice next to the house, like real terracotta. I'm very happy with my purchase, I may buy another one.***UPDATE***It's been 3 months and the rain barrel is still working fine, no leaks. I ordered another rain barrel. When I took the top apart to take the parts out, I found they were different from the last barrel. I got the hose, nozzle with shut off lever and the hook, plus a ring which I later discovered to be a clamp, I didn't have a clue what it was for.Last time I got all those things plus plumbers tape, minus the clamp. There was a part attached to the actual rain barrel spout, which had threads, which attached to the nozzle, which connected to the hose. The new barrel didn't have any threads on the spout and I didn't know how to get the nozzle onto the spout, with no threads to attach it to.I went on the Internet and found the 'All Green Agua' website and looked up contacts and sent them an email. I asked what the ring was for and told them there were no threads on the barrel's spout to attatch the nozzle and there wasn't any plumbers tape. Five days later, I received this email from them:-.......................................................................................................Thank you for your purchases. It looks like Amazon has shipped you an older version of our Agua Rain Barrel. The component kit you have received is the correct one for this Rain Barrel. The open end of the hose can be fitted on to the spout in the rain barrel then secured with the metal clamp that is included.........................................................................................................I placed the clamp over the spout on the barrel, then forced the end of the hose onto the spout and used a screwdriver to tighten the clamp over the hose. Then put some of my own plumbers tape on the threads on the other end of the hose, and attached the nozzle (with the water cut off). Done! The new rain barrel has been outside a week now, collecting rain and working nicely.Today a large box arrived when I was out (delivered by UPS I think). I wondered what it was. After removing all the packaging, I found plumbers tape! It had come all the way from Canada, with custom forms. I am very impressed with their service. They obviously care about their customers. I feel very confident in buying their products in the future.

Low Quality - Stay Away
This is literally the first thing I've ever returned to Amazon. I was incredibly disappointed with this purchase. First off, I ordered Terra Cotta and received the dark brown barrel. That was fine; it actually looked really nice. I didn't realize this does not come with an overflow hose. That means it will overflow out the top and down the foundation of your house. No good! We had the barrel sitting atop landscaping stones as I had read to do to help the flow out the house. The first time it rained, the barrel collapsed and inverted itself around the bricks. I literally don't even know how this happened as the plastic seemed thick and well-made. Also, the plastic spigot is junk and you will definitely need to upgrade. Buyer beware. I would not try this barrel again! Now, my gutter is already cut so I need to replace this hunk of junk with a better option.
