The media could not be loaded.  As a child, I have fond memories of my grandpa's cherished train collection that he would set up every Christmas and Thanksgiving. We lovingly referred to them as "Grandma & Grandpa Choo-Choo" due to the joy those trains brought us. However, due to my grandpa's health issues and their downsizing, they decided to pass the train set on to my sister and me, knowing how much we treasured it growing up. This meant dividing up the tracks between the two of us, leaving neither of us with a complete set.Luckily, I discovered these incredible tracks on this platform, allowing me to find all the tracks I needed to create a setup that would bring joy to my own daughters. The ease of assembly was a pleasant surprise, and even after a year of frequent use, we have yet to encounter any issues with them.Being able to find and acquire the exact tracks I needed has been a game-changer for our family. Not only have we been able to continue the tradition of setting up the train during special occasions, but we have also been able to create new memories with our own children. These tracks have truly stood the test of time, providing endless hours of entertainment and nostalgia. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of durable and reliable train tracks for their own cherished collections.

It is a good product

It is easy to break off the switch flag on it, a drawback. The price seems a bit high but it's Lionel so I expect it to be expensive. It attached easily enough to other tracks and trains go over it smoothly enough.

This was a needed piece for fast track by Lionel.

Package arrived with shipping box damaged and tape coming off. I could hear all kinds of things rattling around. Upon opening the box several pieces fell out onto the floor, luckily I was able to locate everything I was able to put everything back together. Just as others have noted, the little flag controller is very delicate. Keeping my fingers crossed that it holds up.

We bought a few switches to make our basic loop more fun. The switch comes with a quarter turn piece of track. You can change the side that the switch post is on from the left to the right. This is helpful since the post can get in the way on some layouts. It is well built and trains make it smoothly across the switch without derailing. They are a bit expensive, but it makes your train set more fun. Be careful when ordering because there is a left hand and right hand switch.2012 Update - the red switch post that you turn to open and close the switch can break. If this happens, you can buy a replacement post. To remove the old post, pull straight up on it. Then push the new post into the place. I agree that Lionel needs to make these stronger. The replacement part number is 6102017094 RED SIGNAL LEVER / FASTRACK MANUAL SWITCH. It costs less than $4 and you can buy it at a hobby shop or Lionel sells replacement parts at lionel dot com.One last recommendation which has nothing to do with the switch - to make your set more fun consider adding some 1:43 scale cars, fire engines, buses, trucks, etc. Just search Amazon for 1:43 diecast. This scale is about the same as O-gauge and you can find some fun items at a reasonable price

Great piece for the train layout

I have several of these. Great addition to a model railroad layout. Gives more possibilities for track routing, side industries, etc. Only constraint is you have to be able to reach it by hand to switch the track because it is manual and not remote/automated. This should not be a problem for small to mid-size layouts however. Highly recommended.
