AWESOME Measuring Spoon Set!! --- these are high-quality, accurate, functionally well-designed, durable, & super affordable!!
This 5-piece measuring spoon set from MIU France is one of the finest quality measuring spoon sets on the market, and at a price that is surprisingly affordable. This useful tool set will give you many years of enjoyment.===WHY STAINLESS STEEL OVER OTHER MATERIALS??? AND WHY 18/10 STAINLESS???===I prefer a measuring spoon which is constructed from a durable material that can withstand harsher usage & cleaning. So stainless steel is without question the material of choice for me. Why?--it has very low reactivity (that is, it can be used with highly acidic foods without oxidation issues)--it does NOT impart a flavor into foods like some plastics can--it is highly heat-resistant, highly shock-resistant, and highly break-resistant--it can withstand machine cleanings (including those with detergents and high-heat or steam cycles)--it has fantastic longevity & restoring the cosmetic finish is a simple DIY jobOf the many different stainless steels, one of the best choices is arguably 18/10 stainless. This steel, which is high in nickel and chromium, can have excellent strength, impact resistance, and corrosion resistance when the steel is properly heat-treated. It also has fantastic staining resistance. It is commonly used on higher-end flatware.===A DESCRIPTION OF THIS MIU FRANCE SET===Made of 18/10 stainless steel that has been given a good heat treatment, these measuring spoons have excellent strength, thermal stability, and corrosion resistance. This set comes with five different size spoons: 1/8 tsp, 1/4 tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1 tsp and 1 tbsp, all of which are marked with hard-engraving (not laser-engraving or a decal) for excellent longevity. Ironically, while the name of the maker has the word "France" in it, these do NOT have Metric System markings (and they are actually fabricated in China, but of excellent quality nonetheless.) The finish of the metal is polished stainless everywhere except for a matte/brushed finish on the inside of the spoon; I really like this as this matte finish is very durable & even further reduces reactivity. This set is bound together with a locking ball chain material similar to that used on dog tags. This chain is light-duty and does not hold up well, so I quickly replaced it with a plastic locking ring. These spoons are stackable and will sit upright when laid on a flat surface. Despite using a substantial amount of metal to give these strength, they are thin and streamlined enough to easily fit in smaller jars. As other reviewers have noted, the 1/8 tsp size is a little smaller and rounding it out a bit is needed. Overall, the design is simple, elegant, functional, and durable.===CLEANING & UPKEEP===In terms of upkeep, these measuring spoons hold up fine with usage in the dishwasher as well as being boiled to clean/sterilize. Of course like other polished stainless products, extremely hard water can cause spotting, but this is not a functional concern and a metal polish like Bar Keeper's Friend can make stainless look new in a few seconds. I often use tahini paste, which as you probably know is super sticky and leaves an oily residue. Water at or near boiling cleans this off with ease, where as just warm or cool water is a real pain to clean with. So having a measuring spoon that can withstand the thermal shock of being boiled is a huge convenience for me and a major reason for my liking of stainless.===COMPARING TO THE CIA MASTERS 6-PIECE SET===Chances are if you are considering these, you are also considering the CIA Masters set given how popular the CIA Masters is. I have used the CIA Masters set and it's excellent quality & functional design speaks to why it has gained immense popularity in home and professional kitchens alike, and why many refer to it as an industry benchmark for this type of product. Both are of excellent quality. However, I ultimately decided to go for these MIU France spoons. Here is why...=What I Like More About the MIU France Set=--The MIU France set uses hard-engraving that can never fade or be washed off (The CIA Master's uses laser-engraved markings that are very durable, but nothing is as durable as hard engraving)--I personally prefer a measuring spoon designed to measure most accurately when leveled (swiped) rather than rounded. This MIU France set seems to favor leveling where as the CIA Masters set favors rounding (i.e., the CIA Master sizes are a little smaller to intentionally account for the additional volume from a leveled spoon full.) This is completely personal preference as there are pros/cons to each.--The MIU France has a strong matte finish on the inside of the measuring spoons, which I think yields a functional benefit as well as strong visual contrast--The MIU France set is half the price of the CIA Masters.=What I Like More About the CIA Masters Set=--The MIU France has 5 sizes versus the CIA Master's 6 (the CIA Masters has all of the same sizes as the MIU France, plus a 1/2 tbsp size)--The CIA Masters has both English and Metric markings where as the MIU France only has English--The CIA Master's has a much better ring system than the delicate ball chain used with the MIU France===CONCLUSION===So overall, this is a great measuring spoon set, especially considering the price. My praises are many and my complaints few. These MIU France measuring spoons are built to a quality standard comparable to many products of twice the price, and it offers an alternative to the CIA Masters set, which while of excellent quality is considerably more expensive. The sizes included are very useful, and with the way this set is constructed, it is a product that will give you many years (or decades even) of service. So I highly recommend the MIU France.I have attached a few images to show the measuring spoons. The rabbit is for size-comparison purposes only, and is not included with the purchase of this set.

1/8 Teaspoon is not accurate
If it weren't for the 1/8 teaspoon not being accurate, I would have given this set 5 stars (even though I thought about taking off a star due to being made in China, not France). When I received and inspected the set, the 1/8 tsp didn't look just half-smaller to me than the 1/4 tsp; it looked quite a bit smaller. So I spent about 1/2 hour of my time and used everything I had in the kitchen to test all these out for accuracy. All of the other spoons in the set are accurate when filled with product and leveled, but for the 1/8 teaspoon to be accurate, it must be ROUNDED. What? Why make one spoon differently? If you don't test these out, you would never know it. I realize that the rounding versus leveling is a small amount, but sometimes small amounts count very heavily! Especially if you're using the spoon to measure out something that absolutely requires accuracy. I've heard of many people who have to give their pets medication with measuring spoons, for instance. Now this will require me to always have to remember in the future that I must round the 1/8 tsp, but level all the others.Otherwise, the set is VERY hefty and sturdy. The bowls are satin finished and all of the rest of the parts of the spoons are mirror finished. They are also shorter than a lot of the other stainless steel measuring spoons that are lots longer, so these won't take up as much room in a drawer.

Exceptional
These are beautifully made. Strong, they will not bend, nice finish to the metal. I shall buy other MIU products as the result of this purchase.

Nice set
I like the design of this set. The stainless steel looks heavy and with good quality. But there is no clear 18/10 stamp/marker.If it is 18/10, this set will be a good alternative one as the CIA master collection. It has a shorter handle so sometimes it is more convenient. The 1/8 teaspoon is a little bit smaller.

Too wide for spice jars!
A few years ago I bought the MIU France measuring cups which I love and I had been pining after these measuring spoons since. Well, finally, I had some birthday money to blow and I chose these to replace a measuring spoon set I've been using since I was single and maybe my parents were using three decades before that. These new spoons are heavy, which I like, and they are aesthetically pleasing. The long handles are also great. However, I have a couple of complaints:1) Because of the circle shape of the spoon, the teaspoon does not fit into narrow spaces, like into a standard spice jar. (The tablespoon is too large as well, but that is expected.) This is really very annoying since I use the teaspoon the most often and spices are almost entirely what I am using it for.2) They came connected by a tiny metal ball chain which was much too light-weight for these spoons. The chain fell off within the first few minutes and I have lost it several times since. Others may not care about this and would prefer to use their spoons individually, but I've always liked keeping my spoons in a set; it's easier not to lose one down the garbage disposal that way! I wish these had come with a more secure and sturdy ring to hold them together. It looks like I may be holding on to my old set of spoons after all!

Bought for baking accuracy
After a bit of trying my hand at baking I realize that baking is as much chemistry as it is cooking. So I decided I needed accuracy and consistency. These fit the bill. One other reviewer here has posted that the 1/8 spoon is not accurate unless rounded and I don't doubt it but I have rarely seen a recipe call for 1/8 teaspoon; it's usually called for in herbs and seasoning and is more often referred to as a 'dash.' FYI, a 'pinch' is 1/16th teaspoon.Good solid build, attractive.

Excellent set of measuring spoons!
A bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Good heft. Polished stainless steel handles but the inside of the spoons seem brushed. The bead chain that links the spoons together comes undone too easily. Otherwise, I am very happy with this purchase.
