It is not a mask, it is a template, that has a mouth guard on the opposite side. The man then shave around the outside and creates a perfect goatee.

Can I use a trimmer or a clipper with this product?

I use a clipper all the time. It works best that way. But HINT: If your beard is long, be sure all the hair you want to keep is inside the device. (I've ended up with some, er, "interesting" shapes!)

Can I use an electric razor with this product?

Yes you can. I usually just use an electric razor with it. May have to straighten up lines a little bit once you remove the goateesaver, but not much, I think it does a very good job.
