Review: Great for second grade homeschooling - This is the 3rd year we’ve used this brand of book. It is a great value for the price, and covers a variety of topics. The only thing I would change is for it to be in color, but then the cost would probably go up so I would probably order the black-and-white one anyway! Review: Education choices - Best thing I ever did for my child

Great for second grade homeschooling

Worth it
Great curriculum for kids to go off of. We went a different route for homeschool so we no longer need this but it was beneficial while we was using it

Some of my favorite books for homeschooling
As a former public teacher now homeschooling my kids I really do believe this series is an good resource. I would't use it as the primary curriculum but the reading comprehension passages are some of the best I've seen. We usually go down a level or two to facilitate more independant work but that is just my children. We use the science and social studies books because my kids find the information interesting. I have never used any of the worksbooks except science and social studies.

180 days can be easily structured into your learning
180 days is my kids favorite curriculum. We buy 10 for their grade levels. There are so many options to chose from. My children have tried many curriculums over the years. They find 180 days both enjoyable and easy to know what to expect.

If you’re looking for reading comprehension this is the book for you
I am a homeschooling mom and I got this to try out for my 2nd grader and was a bit disappointed that most of what was taught in it is just reading and answering questions about the reading. I guess my main problem with it is it’s trying to cram lessons about American history into a watered down three line paragraph that’s so horrifically boring, it’s pointless. History can be fun and should involve more stories, in my opinion. So if that’s what you’re looking for, look elsewhere. If you just need something to say you “learned history” or are looking for a simple daily exercise to practice reading comprehension, this will do just fine. The latter is how I’ve decided to use it.
