A bit dated, but so is Mongolia.

in planning a trip to Mongolia I found this book to be concise, informative, and chock full of local-type advice.

I knew I was buying a used book. I expected some wear and tear, I did not expect missing pages. Should still be serviceable, but would have been nice to know ahead.

There are not many current travel guides for Mongolia. I thought that the Lonely Planet Guide answered the really important questions regarding climate, electricity, money, Internet access, cuisine, tipping, photographing people, telephone codes, visas, vaccinations, transportation, etiquette, and even toilets.I like the organization of the book. It is organized by region and has suggested itineraries. Finally, I enjoyed the photos and the writer's commentary throughout the guide. That said, I think that it is important to check out the itineraries of tours on-line so that you have an idea of where to go and what to see while you are there. The Internet has additional information about Mongolia. One resource is not really enough for any trip.

Like all Lonely Planet guide books, this book is packed with useful information in an easy to use format.

Wie immer ausgezeichneter Reiseführer eher "untypischer" Reiseziele generell und speziell für Backpacker bzw. diejenigen die selbst organisieren sowie planen oder einfach sparsam reisen wollen, inkl. der vor Ort nutzbaren Verkehrsmittel. Alles sehr gut recherchiert und beschrieben. Preise und Öffnungszeiten können sich natürlich stets ändern, das sollten Reisende beachten und ggf. selbst noch einmal prüfen.

This is one of few guides about Mongolia. Although it is better than no guide at all, the book is largely outdated and needs significantly more details about sights.

Gut gegliederter Reiseführer, das einzige Manko ist, dass wenig über die Geschichte und die Natur selbst darin zu finden ist. Hier würde ich mir etwas mehr Background wünschen.
